Sensor
At its heart is a PAW3519 sensor from PixArt, a “low-end” option from the low-cost economy segment. At this price, of course, no wonder, but at least Sharkoon has increased the polling rate from the 500Hz standard to 1000Hz. By the way, the sensor glows red, which has become quite a rare sight these days.
Here the manageable data sheet directly from the manufacturer:
The complete data sheet is also interesting, because it talks about “nine extra buttons for advanced customizable functions”. So, could the side buttons have been customized with appropriate software after all, but they made a conscious decision not to?
I couldn’t find out a lift-off distance, but it feels like it’s somewhere in the lower midfield and makes the mouse pointer tremble slightly when the mouse is set down again.
The 6 different DPI levels can be switched through with the button between the mouse buttons, which also changes the color of the RGB lighting. Reliability of the sensor is impeccable, but in terms of accuracy you have to make minor sacrifices. Especially during fast movements, the cursor and mouse lose some synchronicity. Even after prolonged use, I kept expecting the crosshairs to be in a different place than they were.
