Sharkoon Drakonia II Review – Multi-button MMO mouse for price-conscious gamers!

With 12 programmable buttons, the Drakonia II is an extremely flexible mouse that should appeal to MMO gamers in particular. With an ergonomic shape, a solid 15,000 DPI sensor, adjustable weight, and subtle RGB lighting, it has everything you need these days. But for under 40€, can all that shines be gold?

It must be over 10 years since the first MMO mouse saw the light of day, and since I’ve never caught WoW fever or any other MMO, I’ve never really been interested in such mice. Many thumb buttons for spells and items, freely assignable and easy to reach – I can understand the fascination, even if it never triggered a buying reflex in me. Today you can get something like that for a budget of 40 €:

 

Of course, you can also assign other things like macros or shortcuts to the many keys and thus misuse them for productive use. Not knowing what to expect here, I propped myself into the test and as always, this one starts with the unboxing.

Unboxing

I really liked the packaging of the Drakonia II at first glance. Plain, no listing of features, no marketing stuff, just the product and name pictured.

When opened, the most important features and the mouse itself are revealed. Stylishly implemented, but unfortunately also causes relatively much plastic waste.

In addition to the mouse and a quick start guide, the box also contains a stylish carrying bag and replacement gliding feet.

Once again, the implementation of the connection cable is exemplary: a full 1.8m long, wrapped in robust textile and equipped with a sheath wave filter. The sheathing is not quite as flexible as on the later Light² 180, but makes a more stable impression. What will prevail in the long run remains to be seen.

There is a small compartment on the bottom.

Tuning weights can be sunk into this to weigh down and balance the mouse. A total of five weights of 5.6 grams each can be mounted.

Because I now prefer lightweight mice, I removed the weights for the test.

There is also a wide storage area on the right side for ring and little fingers.

The surface looks very nice, but it takes a while to get used to the very smooth texture.

Due to the asymmetric shape, the Drakonia II fits very well in the hand.
