Fan control and curves
Let’s move on to the somewhat surprising noise emissions, because when you provoke the in-house Radeon RX 6800XT Nitro and also beat it to 350 watts of power consumption, it still remains quieter than the giant all-in-one construct. On the one hand, this is due to the quite audible pump, but on the other hand, of course, also due to the rather loud fans. They only rev just below 1000 rpm under full load, which normally wouldn’t be a leg break, but here in the trio it’s clearly audible.
Noise emission “Volume
If you measure the whole thing in normal operation and without stress, then the 37.6 dBA of the fans and pump are not an infernal noise, but the Nitro+ really counterattacks the fan guild with 33 dB(A) at over 340 watts. We see on the frequency analysis a very high, lower frequency portion, which is due to the motor and bearing noise of the fans, which were not decoupled and rigidly mounted on the radiator. In addition, there is the very metallic pump noise, which decreases somewhat after about 10 hours of operation, but later never completely goes away. You can see it in the very prominent spikes in the analysis up to almost 5 KHz.
As an interim conclusion, we unfortunately have to state that Sapphire has created a cooler here that cools, but raises more question marks in terms of noise emissions than vendors and customers may like. Who in the age of good integrated pump solutions relies on such an archaic wheel brother of pump and such fans, must already accept the criticism.
