Summary and conclusion
Apart from the performance assessment already made, the Sapphire Radeon RX 6950 XT Nitro+ Pure 16 GB leaves a very positive impression in the very eye-catching yet very pleasant design, the technical implementation and through the chosen cooling solution. A practical, well-equipped and smartly designed PCB with the usual phases in the voltage converters is an additional positive aspect of the rating, as is the somewhat more reserved affinity for the socket (compared to the competitor card from the launch test), which is already quite pronounced by default.
The load peaks in the power consumption are a rather minor problem for the Radeons and should not pose unsolvable problems for simpler and large enough power supplies. In addition, there is the sympathetic LC filter in the entrance area, which can not be praised enough. The card, although advertised by AMD primarily for Ultra-HD, does an excellent job in Full-HD and QHD and is effectively on par with the factory overclocked GeForce RTX 3090 SUPRIM X from MSI.
The cooling performance and the associated noise development is very good in the context of the power dissipation, but the weight of almost 1.6 kilograms is also a heavy pound. However, the included graphics card holder provides a bit of soul balm here. Almost everything that has been installed here is already from the upper shelf and in the end also acceptable in terms of the overall acoustic picture. This also includes the fans with the 9 rotor blades in a kink look and the somewhat conspicuously designed geometry.
The RRP of a bit 1399 EURO is sporty, but the card as such stands out so well from the uniformity of gray-black-metallic ABS battle tanks that the impact doesn’t hurt quite as much anymore. Also in terms of the overall package. Of course, the availability and the actual street prices at the onset of deliverability is beyond my control, so one can only hope for improvement. In any case, it will hardly be the card’s fault if you are frustrated as a gamer. These are then, as always, the sorry circumstances
The card was provided to igorsLAB by Sapphire under NDA for testing with the condition not to fall below the set release date until the AMD NDA falls. There was no possible influence of the manufacturer on the test and the results, nor was there any obligation to publish them.
