Software
At the moment there is only one software for IOS and Android. When asked directly at Shure if and when there will be a software for the PC, they answered that they are working on it and that there will probably be such a version later. So unfortunately, we can only use the ShurePlay app with our smartphones or tablets. Of course, this does not prevent us from testing them. Once in the app, we are taken through a tutorial on how to pair our Aonic 50 or even other Shure products. The design is quite simple.
Once we have paired our device, it also shows us our battery level directly. We can change the modes here without switching the headphones (such as noise cancelling or environment mode) and here comes a special feature to light, because the environment mode can be changed here again in the volume and adjusted. This is something that unfortunately cannot be changed on the headphones themselves, only in the app. One menu item further on we come to the library and there we can, as in other apps, create and manage a selection of our favorite music.
Let’s move on to the last point of the app, the equalizer. There we find ready-made presets. However, these can be changed and adjusted again so that we find the best sound for us. Or we create a completely new setup, customised by and entirely for us.
Microphone
The Aonic 50 has a full 6 microphones, each with its own task. 2 pieces for noise cancelling, 3 pieces for the environment mode and a microphone for telephony. The microphone for telephony is located on the right side, facing forward and is barely visible or not visible at all. The remaining microphones are distributed in all directions. Only the 2 microphones for noise cancelling are visible through a perforated surface, but they don’t stand out unpleasantly or even destroy the look.
The recording quality for the voice microphone was good, I could not register any annoying noise, crackling or even hissing. Category: can be left like this.
