Summary and conclusion
The Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB modules in the DDR5-6600 CL32 version are not only a real top model according to the data sheet. As you would expect from Corsair, the design and construction of the module is a precision landing, both visually and functionally. The cooling performance is very good in active and passive mode and together with the highly selected ICs this means massive overclocking potential.
The only criticism would be the higher PCB, which thus makes it more difficult to mount water blocks or other aftermarket coolers. Enthusiasts who want to squeeze even more performance out of the ICs will have to get creative or look at the Vengeance DDR5-6600 SKU instead.
Speaking of ICs, the faster A-Die successors from SK Hynix already exist, but they are not really available in western markets yet, not to mention pre-selected XMP variants. And even if that were the case, faster is not always better on all platforms. It is precisely for such cases or in scenarios without active cooling that an optimization of the timings with an unchanged clock rate makes more sense. However, the modules from today’s test can also call up considerable reserves here. The performance is all the more impressive when you consider that Corsair gets by with an 8-layer design of the board.
If you are looking for a DDR5 kit for maximum performance today, you will definitely find it with Corsair’s top model of the Dominator Platinum RGB product series. Corsair charges 535 Euros in its own store today, which is not cheap at all, even for a high-end DDR5 kit. The kit should then be available in the usual online stores in the next few weeks, hopefully at a slightly more affordable price.
