On December 24, 2024, NVIDIA released a new update for its software. In addition to a hotfix for the current GeForce drivers, the update also contains changes to the “NVIDIA App” to resolve performance issues.
Hotfix for GeForce drivers released
The company has released the GeForce hotfix display driver version 566.45. This is based on the Game Ready driver, but specifically fixes certain problems. As the changes do not justify a complete driver update, it is being released as a hotfix.
The changes at a glance:
[Indiana Jones and the Great Circle]: Some users reported occasional micro-jerking during gameplay. This issue has been fixed.Ubisoft titles with Snowdrop engine: The stability of these games has been improved.
The hotfix driver can be downloaded for Windows 10 x64 and Windows 11 x64.
Changes in the “NVIDIA App”
In addition to the hotfix, the “Game Filter” function in the “NVIDIA App” has been deactivated. This decision was made after users reported a decrease in performance of up to 15% caused by the app’s overlay function.
Background to the deactivation of the “Game Filter” option
The performance problems occurred because the “Game Filter” option is not compatible with many games. The deactivation of this function in version 11.0.1 of the app is an interim solution. However, a comprehensive update to rectify the cause is not expected until next month at the earliest.
What does this mean for users?
Affected players can currently improve performance by manually deactivating the “Game Filter” function. A permanent solution will be included in a future update. NVIDIA continues to work on optimizing the stability and performance of its software. These changes highlight the company’s ongoing work to improve the user experience, especially when it comes to game performance and stability issues.
