The lowest settings in terms of system latency
Before we get right into the details, I’d like to briefly show how I performed the static tests. Again a short video about this!
From this position, the two cards and their associated gimmicks had to show what they were capable of in terms of system latency. Let’s see…
No big surprise that the AMD RX 6700 XT is the winner here! But why is the gap so narrow now after all? To do that, we need to look at the details.
Here are the NVIDIA LDAT data for the RTX 3060 Ti
Here are the specifications of the RX 6700 XT
Up to here, I don’t really see a significant difference. Yes, the standard deviation is a bit worse on the RX 6700 XT and the spread is a bit larger according to the numbers, but all still within reason. Let’s keep looking!
Nothing new here either…
And the last slide reveals to us the secret. Yes yes, the Frametime! Whenever the topic of system latency comes up, you have to make sure that the frame times are as low and constant as possible. Here you can see the 2 ms difference from the latency measurement. The distance between the blue and red line is on average exactly these 2 ms. There you go, that was easy! So then quickly turn up the settings properly.
