Nvidia Reflex and Boost in Overwatch
You currently have to go to the PTR server if you want to test Reflex and Boost. Get a workout in and you’re good to go.
Test 1: Graphics settings (1440p Ultra Settings)
Here is a picture of the settings in the game: Nvidia Reflex activated + Boost
Nice CPU limit! I’ve never had the game Overwatch on my computer until now. But somehow the framerates here are quite low with an RTX 3080, despite CPU limit in 1440p. Or is it because of that? There was something about Hardware Unboxed and also Igor reported about a possible problem. Hmm, interesting! What framerates are you getting in 1440p in this game? Please post it in the forum.
Overwatch uses DX11 and again, Nvidia Reflex can’t do anything if you’re stuck in the CPU limit. The distance here is 1 ms, because I have to assign one millisecond to the measurement tolerance. We can safely press that into the skat! Let’s turn it up a notch.
Test 2: Overwatch (1440p Ultra Settings, 200% Render Scaling)
This finally looks like a GPU limit. I’m curious now!
Are there any more questions? Nvidia Reflex, impressive! It knocked the batteries right out of my pacemaker! A latency reduction of about 31%, respect Nvidia.
Interim summary
If you are in the GPU limit with your Nvidia graphics card (900 series to 3000 series), in the already supported games, you should definitely activate Reflex and Boost. Or in other words, there is no reason not to activate this function! Getting high frame rates in e-sports games like Overwatch certainly doesn’t require an RTX 3080. Especially users of a GTX 1060 or GTX 1660 Super Susi can benefit from Reflex. Just to give a few examples.
