The GeForce RTX 5090 from NVIDIA is expected to be the flagship of the RTX 50 “Blackwell” GPU series and is set to offer unprecedented performance. Here are all the important, preliminary and not yet officially announced details on the specifications, performance and price of the upcoming graphics card.
A new benchmark thanks to the groundbreaking Blackwell architecture
As the flagship model, the GeForce RTX 5090 not only defines the performance of the entire GPU range, but also underlines NVIDIA’s dominance in the industry. Despite the increasing focus on AI, NVIDIA shows with the RTX 5090 that it is still the leader in consumer GPUs. The Blackwell architecture, the successor to the Ada-Lovelace series, brings significant advances: higher performance, improved efficiency and technologies that should make 4K and even 8K gaming effortless.
Specifications: Outstanding performance in every detail
The RTX 5090 features a PG144/145-SKU30 PCB design with the new GB202-300-A1 GPU core. Key highlights:
- CUDA cores: 21,760 (compared to 16,384 for the RTX 4090)
- VRAM: 32 GB GDDR7 with 512-bit interface
- Memory bandwidth: 1,792 GB/s (compared to 1,008 GB/s of the RTX 4090)
- Base clock: 2,900 MHz (30% faster than the RTX 4090)
- TBP: 600 W (a significant increase compared to the 450 W of the RTX 4090)
In addition, the RTX 5090 will use a 12V 2×6 connector for the first time from launch, enabling a more stable power supply.
Expected performance: More than just an upgrade
The RTX 5090 is expected to offer at least 10% more performance than the RTX 4090, with impressive improvements in real-time ray tracing, AI-powered upscaling and overall gaming performance. Games in 4K and 8K are optimized with technologies such as DLSS 4.0, allowing even the most demanding titles to run effortlessly.
