NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 laptop GPU: 3.6x increase in games with DLSS 3 and a possible 2.4x increase in creative apps compared to 3080 Ti

This week, Jarrod’s Tech is at it again. The YouTube channel had the opportunity to show the performance of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 laptop GPU, which will be used in the upcoming Razer Blade 16 gaming laptop. The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 laptop GPU is insanely fast compared to the RTX 3080 Ti for both gaming and workload creation.

An exclusive first look from Jarrod’s Tech at the performance of the GeForce RTX 4090 laptop GPU and its performance comparison with the new DLSS 3 technology versus DLSS 2 (with all the known pros and also cons), as these are the first laptops to feature the latest AI upscaling technology. In the review below, the YouTube channel shows off the new Razer Blade 16 gaming notebook, which is powered by a 24-core Intel 13th Gen Core i9-13950HX processor and NVIDIA RTX 4090 graphics based on the AD103 GPU. The laptop’s GPU has a TGP between 150 and 175 W.

Jarrod’s Tech uses the Razer Blade 17 for comparison, which is equipped with a 12th generation Intel Core i7-12800H processor. The most significant difference under the hood of the two laptops is the difference in system memory. The Razer Blade 17 uses DDR4-4800 memory, while the new model from this year offers DDR5-5600 memory. This can affect the performance of both models, which is why it needs to be mentioned.

The comparison of the RTX 4090 GPU in the Razer Blade 16 with NVIDIA’s DLSS 3 upscaling active and the Razer Blade 17 with DLSS 2 active is not entirely helpful in this case, which shows the limits of what Jarrod is allowed to show. From the information in the tests, we can see that NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 4090 with DLSS 3 (performance preset) gets a boost between 80% and 263.1% over the RTX 3080 Ti laptop GPU in the five selected games. In its Blender and DaVinci Resolve Studio tests, the new generation Ada Lovelace improved by up to 135.8% and 126%, respectively. The DaVinci Resolve Studio review compared 4K at 30fps and 8K resolutions with the H.265 codec.

While we wait a bit for the embargo to be lifted, this test allows us to see at least some of the significant differences in graphics technology. However, there are several aspects that need to be covered, such as power consumption, thermal performance, clock operation and more, which will not be available to consumers until the tests are released next month. NVIDIA’s first GeForce RTX 4090 & RTX 4080 laptops, including the Razer Blade 16, are expected to launch on February 8, with pre-orders available starting February 1.
