NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Founders Edition Review- a big step forward and the tombstone for Turing

With RTX Voice we had already occupied ourselves quite often, now there is Broadcast, where NVIDIA on the one hand can edit the image acquisition of the camera, on the other hand also RTX Voice is included. Unfortunately, the whole thing is so far Ampere exclusive, so there is no help in bending the installation package at the moment. But be that as it may, it is definitely worth it, otherwise I would certainly not have made the effort. NVIDIA Broadcast can also be installed on the R455 driver and can also be started with an Ampere card.

We know the microphone and background noise from RTX Voice. This works excellently with the recording device and can even be recorded and checked with a built-in test program. One should not overdo it with the strength, otherwise it will clip a bit. But apart from that, the whole thing is surely really helpful when vacuum cleaner, coffee machine or hairdryer make noise in the background.

This also works during the playback, if the counterpart doesn’t have such a feature, then you can have this sound carpet calculated before the playback, thanks to AI. There is also a sample file for this, which you can use for customization, or you can use your own.

But now comes the real highlight, namely the AI-based recognition of the protagonist in front of the cam and the manipulation of what is not me. First of all I can examine myself at the webcam with 60 FPS also fluidly. Haircut is right. As a little nasty gimmick, I turned a lamp on the left back towards the webcam. Let’s see if that will get rid of it or cause problems.

First I play with the background blur. This is helpful if you haven’t cleaned up, or you have something to hide. Blurring can be helpful. So in effect Botox and make-up for the background.

What was that again with the backlight of the spotlight? it is gone when you remove the background! well, the edges are a little frayed and with fast movements there are sometimes slight artifacts (finder), but these are usually provoked exceptions.

You can also change the background image. I’m going over to the bistro for lunch.

Those who prefer to see themselves in the centre of attention can automatically be put into the picture. With extreme wide-angle cameras with frog line, however, the face becomes a little too round. But you don’t buy that kind of thing. My camera can do that, lucky me.

All this can be selected, as already with RTX Voice simply as a recording or output device. This works in any software that allows you to select devices. Skype & Co do it, and OBS too, by the way. Here you can easily select and set up the device, whether video or audio. Complicated is something else.

All in all, it’s a really nice story, especially since the Elgato HDMI grabber is also recognized. But that’s already another story.
