As the market launch of the GeForce RTX 5070 approaches, reports of delays to the RTX 5060 graphics cards are once again making the rounds. According to the latest information, NVIDIA’s board partners have been informed that both the RTX 5060 Ti and the RTX 5060 will be released later than originally planned.
RTX 5060 Ti probably not until April, RTX 5060 will probably follow in May
Originally, the GPUs of the GeForce RTX 5060 series were to be presented in March, with broad availability in April. However, according to the latest reports, this schedule has been pushed back further. The RTX 5060 Ti is now expected to be released in mid-April at the earliest and the RTX 5060 in mid-May. So far, there is only speculation about the reasons for this delay. There is talk of problems with production and the availability of components, but there are no official statements from NVIDIA.
Internal communication to partners confirms later launch
In an internal email, NVIDIA has apparently informed its AIC partners (add-in card partners) about the delayed market launch. Accordingly, board partners must be prepared for the fact that the RTX 5060 Ti in the 8 GB and 16 GB GDDR7 variants will not be released until mid-April, while the RTX 5060 with 8 GB VRAM is expected to follow in mid-May.
“The release of the new RTX 5060 Ti 16G/8G series is likely to be postponed to mid-April, while the RTX 5060 series is expected to be released in mid-May.”
However, there are no specific dates even for the board partners, so further delays cannot be ruled out.
Competition expected from AMD’s RX 9060
The situation is made even more exciting by the fact that AMD’s RX 9060 series is also expected in the second quarter. The RX 9060 XT and RX 9060 are expected to compete directly with the RTX 5060 Ti with 8 GB and 16 GB variants. If AMD can keep to its plans, the Radeon cards could put NVIDIA under pressure early on in the mid-range segment.
Technical specifications of the RTX 5060 Ti and RTX 5060
The GeForce RTX 5060 Ti will be launched as the successor to the RTX 4060 Ti with 4,608 CUDA cores, 8 or 16 GB GDDR7 VRAM and a TDP of 180 W. The RTX 5060, on the other hand, is being traded as a direct replacement for the RTX 4060 and has 3,840 CUDA cores, 8 GB GDDR7 VRAM and a TDP of 150 W. Interestingly, there have also been hints of a 12 GB version of the RTX 5060, although this has not yet been officially confirmed. If NVIDIA does indeed launch a larger memory variant, this could give it an advantage over the RX 9060, which is currently only expected to come with an 8 GB version. Until NVIDIA makes an official statement, it remains to be seen whether the current reports will be confirmed – or whether the market launch of the mid-range GPUs will be further delayed.
