With the first DDR5 platforms on the doorstep at the end of this year – if the leaks are to be believed – it’s the dash to the line for DDR4 and for memory manufacturers this means it’s time to refine the design one last time. Corsair launches the Vengeance RGB RT DDR4 series today, specifically tailored for Ryzen systems and with a freshly redesigned exterior. The gray 2x 16 GB 3600 Mbps CL18 variant is what we take a closer look at in today’s review.

Let me first give you a short overview of what makes the new DDR4 modules special, according to Corsair. The lighting of the new modules is provided by ten RGB LEDs with a “panoramic light guide” that can be individually controlled with Corsair iCUE. The heatsink is made entirely of aluminium for the best possible cooling performance – except for the light guide, of course – and in addition to the “Gunmetal” colour there is also a version with the brushed element in light grey / white.

For the memory configurations, kit sizes from 2x 8 GB to 8x 32 GB and XMP profiles DDR4-3200 C16, DDR4-3600 C18, DDR4-3600 CL16 and DDR4-4000 CL18 are available, which are thus optimally suited for AMD Ryzen systems in 1:1 mode. Corsair also advertises a specially designed PCB and carefully selected memory chips for maximum overclocking potential and backs this up with a “Limited Lifetime Warranty”.
