NAS for beginners: Review and how a newcomer became happy with the TerraMaster F2-423

Security

Now we come to the security aspect. TerraMaster already offers extensive settings via the TOS interface that help to protect our system, e.g. a preconfigured firewall and DDOS attack protection with extensive backup options without our direct intervention. This is particularly important in the business sector because the NAS F2-423 is not only intended for home users, but also for small businesses.

One point in the area of security that I also really like is the option of receiving a notification by e-mail if irregularities occur in the system, such as attacks or unauthorized IP access.

In addition to all the praise, there are also negative things to report. TerraMaster also offers us a cell phone app with which we can control our NAS with our cell phone, provided we have connected it to a router. Unfortunately, this doesn’t quite work as expected, because the app keeps crashing or doesn’t let us access it at all, which is a real shame. Because here you could save your media directly to the NAS from anywhere in the world and have one less thing to worry about if your smartphone breaks. At least the cell phone data would still be on the NAS.
