MSI RX 6800XT Gaming X Trio 16 GB Review – Sanity on silent soles with decent reserves for cocky people

Summary and conclusion

Apart from the already made evaluation of the performance, the MSI RX 6800XT Gaming X Trio 16 GB also leaves a very positive impression in the technical implementation and through the chosen cooling solution. A practical, well-equipped and smartly designed circuit board with the usual phases for the voltage transformers is an additional positive aspect of the evaluation. The load peaks in the power consumption are generally a much smaller problem with the Radeons and shouldn’t present even simpler power supplies with unsolvable problems. In addition, there is the sympathetic LC filter in the input area, which cannot be praised enough, but is somewhat smaller in MSI’s case. However, this is a specification from AMD and MSI has adapted this.

The cooling performance and the associated noise development is very good in the context of the power dissipation, but the weight of more than 1.5 kilos is also a heavy pound. An included graphics card holder or stand could certainly have provided a bit of soul balm here. What has been built here is already from the upper shelf and in the end also acceptable in the overall acoustic picture. This includes the new fans with the 10 rotor blades and the slightly different geometry.

The MSRP of just over $800 is certainly still reasonable, especially considering the overall package. The availability and the actual street prices of far more than 1000 Euro shouldn’t be MSI’s fault, TSMC has simply taken over and the retailer adds a lot of money. Especially as one hears that various things are also in short supply, which are otherwise needed for production. A causal chain with lots of unknowns. I can only wish everyone good F5 skills when the next batch arrives here in Germany. There probably won’t be many cards, but at least some. So it is best to practice a bit, then it will work with the shopping cart. Then if you want to pay the scalper prices.

The card was provided to igorsLAB by MSI under NDA for testing with the condition not to fall short of the specified release date until the AMD NDA falls. There was no possible influence of the manufacturer on the test and the results, nor was there any obligation to publish them.
