Some time ago, we reported that the American company MSI will not be producing graphics cards from the new AMD 9000 series. You can find the corresponding article below. Instead, the manufacturer is increasingly focusing on NVIDIA’s new 50 series. A new discovery that has been made is particularly interesting. A GeForce RTX 5080 with 24 GB VRAM was spotted in a product list from MSI. This information is very surprising, as there has been no official confirmation from MSI or NVIDIA of such a configuration.

Whether this entry is correct or an error is still unclear. However, it is striking that MSI has not made any official announcements in the past that include an RTX 5080 with 24 GB VRAM. Nevertheless, it is precisely this variant that appears in the compatibility list of the MSI MAG X870 TOMAHAWK WIFI motherboard. This could either be an indication of an unreleased product or a simple typo. To date, this information has not been corrected or removed, further fueling speculation.

It remains to be seen whether an RTX 5080 with 24 GB VRAM will actually be released. Neither NVIDIA nor its board partners have officially confirmed or announced such a version yet. It should also be noted that the previously known RTX 5080 with 16 GB VRAM is not on the list. It is quite possible that there has been a mix-up here and that 24 GB VRAM was accidentally specified instead of the correct 16 GB.
Apart from these ambiguities, the “actual” GeForce RTX 5080 with 16 GB VRAM has already been confirmed as one of the latest models of NVIDIA’s Blackwell architecture. It offers support for the latest version of DLSS 4 and comes with 1801 AI-TOPS and 10,752 CUDA cores. The memory connection is made via a 256-bit interface, which ensures a memory bandwidth of 960 GB/sec. The card measures 304 mm × 137 mm and has the usual connections: three DisplayPorts and an HDMI connection.
It remains to be seen whether MSI will publish further information on the supposed 24 GB variant in the future or whether this is actually a mistake. At the moment, this information is still in the list and has not yet been changed.
