Summary and conclusion
MSI has done a good job with this board and is priced in the mid-range, at least as far as B550 ITX motherboards are concerned. Internal as well as external ports are plentiful for a small board, the BIOS is extensive as usual, and it also does well in terms of cooling. It also looks good, the simple design with some gray-silver accents should go well with many color combinations.
If you see the board at all in your small system, once cooler and graphics card are installed… Somewhat incomprehensible to me, however, is the existence of the more expensive MAX version. Besides the price, the only notable difference seems to be an external Clear CMOS button, even in direct specs comparison they are almost identical. Actually, the MAX variants at MSI were always the board with larger memory for the BIOS to support more CPUs. But since the next generation of AMD processors will require a new socket again, this seems pretty unnecessary here.
So if you should consider this board, then rather the slightly cheaper variant without MAX addition.
