The Sharkoon QB One is – from my point of view – a very good Mini-ITX case. Despite the small form factor, you can fit quite a bit in. For example, a graphics card with a length of up to 315 mm can be accommodated. Even an AIO with up to 240 mm can be installed. Sharkoon has thought along in the area of the fan inlets and installed dust filters. Unfortunately not detachable, but that’s forgivable given the form factor. If you want, you can install up to two 3.5″ HDDs or two 2.5″ SSDs. Thus even the use as NAS would be conceivable! With the additional 2x USB 2.0, 2x USB 3.0 and the jack connections, you should be able to attach your usual external devices here.
The Intel Core i5-11400 is an interesting offer and is currently unrivaled in terms of price-performance. From my point of view AMD has to bring an alternative APU to the start! The integrated graphics unit of the Intel i5-11400 can definitely be used as a single monitor solution. But if you want to use two monitors on the ASRock B560M-ITX via HDMI and Display Port, it gets weasel-hairy! In my case, the image was output to both monitors simultaneously. So I had my mouse cursor twice and I couldn’t change that via Windows or the Intel GPU software. From my point of view Intel has to change something here. Even my 3 year old Microsoft Surface with Intel CPU can do better!
The B560M-ITX/AC motherboard from ASRock will almost certainly not win any beauty awards. Considering the price, however, it offers the user plenty of connectivity. It’s a good thing that both wi-fi and Bluetooth are included out of the box. Also M.2 for fast SSDs, 1 Gbit Lan etc. can be used. Regarding the onboard sound with the ALC897, you won’t get any musical fireworks to your ears, but it’s completely sufficient for the office area.
The cooler from Alpenföhn that I chose is properly challenged or overtaxed by the Intel Core i5-11400. My tip: Set the TDP to 65 watts, then it should remain cool with such small airbuses, even if the CPU is really challenged. Attention: The stated values of Intel regarding the boost clock are only visible for a few minutes until the CPU throttles itself down to 65 watts. Then the load is much lower than the 3.8 GHz I reached (at 100 Watt TDP)!
The system is barely noticeable when idle and still tolerable under load, thanks to the Pure Wings 2 fans. The bottom line is that you get a usable system for about 500 to 600 €, which doesn’t need much space and is completely sufficient for everyday use. If you add a powerful dedicated graphics card, you have created a console replacement for the home cinema on the UHD OLED TV.
All components were bought by myself. There has been no influence on the part of the manufacturers!
