Let’s start with the individual loads and the resulting power consumption in each case. The 17 to 19 watts at idle are way too much for such a small card, the rest is as expected in the gradation. However, with almost 95 watts, the card is very close to the limit of what the installed components of the voltage converter can produce without active cooling in extreme cases. Compared to the much more frugal Radeon RX 6400, this all reads like a story from three years ago, when the GTX 1650 was mocked as a power-doped drunk in April 2019. Compliance with standards at the motherboard slot (PEG)
Let’s now look at the load of the motherboard slot, which is specified by the PCI SIG as 5.5 amps. This results in a maximum power of 66 watts at 12 volts. You can see very clearly that this standard is loosely adhered to, because the GPU is powered by the external PCIe port alone.
Power supply load in detail
