Audio Audio/Peripherals Bluetooth Headsets Reviews

When price and performance know how to convince: 1More In-Ear Triple Driver BT | igor'sLAB Review

Headphones are a tricky subject when it comes to quality, sound, fit and taste. Hardly any other piece of hardware is as critically questioned as headphones. After all, a number of factors play a part when it comes to finding your favorite headphones.

Commissioning

So let us move on to the important part: commissioning. An iPhone X and an iPad Pro are used for the test. A MacBook Pro must also be considered a test candidate. The pairing process is simply started: You hold down the power button on the neck boom for 4 seconds until the status LED lights up alternately red and blue. Then you open the Bluetooth search on the audio device to be paired and then select the 1More Triple Driver BT as the detected device.

With all three test devices, the pairing worked right away and presented me with no puzzles. The headphones are then switched on later by a 2-second push on the power button. The headphones then automatically pair with the last connected device. An on-the-fly change between the devices is not possible, you have to restart the pairing process as described earlier. Finally, the headphones are switched off with 4 seconds of pressure on the power button when the headphones are in operation.

The charge level of the headphones is displayed in the status line for compatible devices. This works in 10% increments on both iOS and MacOS. So you know about how long you still enjoy music before the lights go out. Due to the lack of an Android-based device, I can't say what it's like on Android. However, the coupling processes should be similar. The battery level is also displayed.

Hearing Music

Classic:

Andrea Bocelli – It's Time to say goodbye – (FLAC 48kHz/16bit – 958kbps)

Let's come to a rather demanding test for the headphones with this piece. On the one hand, the headphones have to prove whether they are able to build up a wide stage design, can skillfully stage the presence of even filigree instruments and can also precisely implement instruments with depth.

The depths seem very present, but do not tend to pass into a bass-sabber or uncontrolled swinging. Deep passages are reproduced with the necessary respect and very good precision. It is astonishing that the little one here gives so much strength and emphasis. He competes here on an equal footing with my beyerdynamic DT990 Pro (which is my ear sofa and is my reference in terms of sound!)

In the middles, the headphones look very balanced and not too dominant. Especially with the vocals you notice that the headphones together with the instruments strive for a clearly differentiated stage structure and manages this skilfully. Without an acoustic polisher, a very clean and neutral sound is scored here and successfully competes with my DT990 Pro! In the heights, the special discipline of this headphones, it is emphasized once again, which results in a finely differentiated sound resolution. One can hear the bows on the strings of the string instruments clearly, as well as any fine sound that underlines the liveness factor of an orchestra.

The voice of Andrea Bocelli is also played very cleanly and differentiated in the heights, which makes this piece on this headphones a pure sound pleasure.

Conclusion: The little In-Ear fires sharply against my DT990 Pro and can score even better in terms of precision! Amazing that 1More manages to even put a thoroughbred stereo headphone in the barriers for systems.

Jazz:

The depths are clearly dominated by double bass and other distinctive instruments. Precision is also important here, so that the harmony of jazz music is not disturbed. The headphones do not contain any weaknesses and, as with the classic piece, can underpin its precision.  In the middles, the vocals are reproduced in a very differentiated way and there is no feeling that the sound is musty. It's like testing and optimizing the headphones with many music styles at 1More. The instruments also have the necessary punch and precision to avoid interrupting the harmony. This is pleasing and deserves respect!

In the heights I notice again that the headphones want to score points in this area with its design and also manages it. You can hear the smoky voice in particular naturally and unadulterated, which is one of the stylistic elements of jazz. But also brass instruments (trumpet, saxophone) are depicted with an enormous precision, which is otherwise only known from properly audiophile headphones or stand boxes.

Conclusion: Jazz can also be enjoyed with this headphones. The differentiation and naturalness of the sound leave no doubt! Once again, the 1More Triple Driver BT is on par with my DT990 Pro.

Rock:

AC-DC – Hells Bells (Live) – (FLAC 48kHz/16bit – 729kbps)

When it comes to really feisty music, which doesn't just turn into a drum-and-treat, then when it comes to rock, you consciously perform AC-DC, which became famous with their songs. One of my favourites here is clearly Hells Bells (Live), which has a very quiet start, but then passes in an instrumental and vocal fireworks. Since the piece is a live recording, the headphones have to cope with another discipline. The cheering and screaming of the fans skilfully work out, so that again the piece of music is in the foreground.

In the depths, the headphones can once again show their precision. The percussions are reproduced very precisely. No re-energized, no uncrowned bass-saber, but a neat punch, as you miss it all too often with headphones with rock music. Even my DT990 Pro has to be put in the back here, because it misses the precision here and there and resonates a little more (but this is also due to the fact that the membrane with 50mm diameter also pushes significantly more mass!)

In the middle you can hear the vocals very nicely. No oversteering even at high volumes, the percussions do not swallow the vocals. It's just listening pleasure. The DT990 Pro also excels here. Both are clearly on an equal footing here. In the heights it becomes especially interesting for the percussions and also string instruments. The cymbals sound neither muddy nor undifferentiated but clear and precise! The same applies to the guitars, whose string plucked one hears well and neither distorted nor sound artificial. The DT990 Pro lacks precision here and there, but it's limited. Defiance is the 1More Triple Driver In-Ear!

House:

Axwell – Feel The Vibe (Extended Club Mix) – (FLAC 48kHz/16Bit – 658kbps)

Let's move on to the more modern musical styles. In music, precision is more in demand in the bass area, but depth and punch should not suffer from it. Here my DT990 Pro has shown all the other headphones in my repertoire who has the pants on! In the depths, I notice that the headphones once again show its precision. Neither uncontrolled re-swinging nor missing punch let the song down.

This is by no means the case with in-ears, as they have to cope with significantly less sound volume due to their design. Some manufacturers "cheat" here with sound optimizations to feign a richness of sound. Not infrequently, however, THAT ends in a sound catastrophe, which is particularly familiar from the Beats headphones. This is neither beautiful nor are the ears looking forward to such a sound soup.

Respect, then, that 1More dispenses with questionable sound optimizations and passes on the depths unadulterated, but still has a depth of sound that is otherwise only known from large over-ears. Once again, the DT990 Pro and Triple Driver BT are on one level!

In the middles are the vocals at home again, but also the synth instrumentals. Here, too, one must enviously acknowledge that precision is skillfully implemented and that there is no nakedness. Natural and unadulterated as it must be. I sometimes forget that instead of the DT990 Pro I have the Triple Driver BT in my ears, because the sound stage is almost identical! In the heights, the synth percussions and also the vocals doiminate. Again a point landing. No exaggerated hissing or exaggerated heights due to soundforming. Just wow! Some details swallow my DT990 Pro, so the point goes to the 1More Triple Driver BT!

Trance:

Ferry Corsten – A Day Without Rain – (FLAC 48kHz/16Bit – 596kbps)

Sometimes you have to paint your ears a bit with hammering electrobeats, even if you have to let off steam. Stage clear for Ferry Corsten!

In the depths, the headphones with very good depth for an in-ear can win my heart. Once again, the precision is emphasized, which instead of an uncontrolled bass whirlmer conjures up a decent pressure in the eardrum without oversteering or missing precision. Of course, my DT990 Pro gets a little deeper here, but this is also due to the fact that the DT990 Pro has a much larger sound body. We must not be unfair here! What 1More does here is see or it's worth it, because the little one in the ear doesn't have to be ashamed of the sound result. The bass goes down. As far as the design allows. This must be acknowledged without envy. So I cannot define a clear winner here!

In the middle you realize how important unadulterated sound reproduction is once again. Eillis' vocals also come here with a neck hair-setting precision and sound quality, that one does not like to give the headphones. In the heights, the synth percussions become dominant again and have to detach themselves from the high areas of the vocals. The headphones do this quite well here too and you find it difficult to find any weaknesses! Point equality between the DT990 Pro and the 1More Triple Driver In-Ear BT!

Overall conclusion Music

What can we say? There hasn't been an in-ear that has captivated me so much when it comes to sound, differentiation or precision. Even if I wanted to massage my eardrum on other genres, I often switched from in-ears to my proven DT990 Pro. The 1More Triple Driver BT is now a game changer here, as it gives me all the features in portable space. The advantage is that he can just be taken with him. He has also proven his commitment in the fitness environment and you can do great workouts with the headphones. Whether on the treadmill, the bike or even steppers: the neck boom sits and slips only minimally, even if you sweat. The foam pads guarantee a firm hold even with sweaty ears, where the silicone inserts like to slip out.

EnC/ANC also effectively filters out some side noises, so that the music enjoyment is not completely disturbed by side noises. The fact that this is not quite as effective as with the Sennheiser HD 4.50 BTNC with ANC, is partly due to the fact that the headphones are completely closed and the ear pads completely enclose the earcup and thus a large part of the ambient noise is isolated. Nevertheless, the Sennheiser HD 4.50 BTNC are inferior to the in-ears of 1More. On the one hand the portability and on the other hand also the fidelity to sound. This is what you like and here the 1More Triple Driver BT deserves a clear best rating!

Communication

As described at the beginning, the 1More Triple Driver also allows hands-free communication. A built-in microphone in the left ironing part picks up the language and also uses noise reduction to filter noise. I tested the communication and the result speaks for the 1More Triple-Driver In-Ear BT: The opposite hears me clearly understandable without distortions and excessive noise. Even in moderate winds, the voice is still understandable, where many other headsets are already swiping the sails!

On the listening side, the headphones can also score points. The participant arrives undisturbed. There are no interruptions due to noise on the microphone, a completely bi-directional communication is guaranteed. Due to the neutral sound, heights in conversation, especially sibilants and noise sounds, do not seem exaggerated and thus do not become a test of patience for the eardrum. The operation is intuitive and quick to learn: Press abehmen/hang-up = 1 time short – reject = press 1 time long. That's it!

Here, too, 1More has done its homework and shows that music enjoyment and communication can be skilfully integrated into the same device.
