Package temperature
The temperatures below the package are quite interesting, because due to the special features of the circuit layout of the power supply, e.g. the frontrunner in GPU temperature suddenly only in the lower midfield ("Combustor Memory Burner"), while in this case other areas and components heat up above average. Because somewhere the heat has to go.
Thus, OCCT is the ideal case in this setting to test on the one hand the heat dissipation of the GPU to the cooler and on the other hand also the possible use of a backplate for active cooling by means of thermal pad on the back of the board in the socket area.
Voltage Transformer (VRM)
The voltage converters and their temperatures are always a much-discussed topic. If you really want to test their cooling optimally, there is actually no way around MSI's "combuster". We will therefore now rely on this program when it comes to new graphics card tests and switch between the "GPU Core Burner" and the "Memory Burner" from the "MSI Combustor", depending on the measuring range. Also "The Witcher 3" is a safe bank in each of these partial tests as a really real application when it comes to really high loads.
Storage temperatures
No program was able to produce the same high temperatures at the memory as the "Memory Burner" of the "MSI Combuster". After all, 9°C more than in the "Witcher 3" are already a house number, although not really realistic. But for the assessment of a cooling solution, this tool is actually indispensable.
