First, a thermal image image in idle mode, which after approx. 20 minutes. Since the card works in semi-passive mode, some of the slightly higher partial temperatures are of course not surprising.
The Witcher 3
We use exactly this game for the determination of the power consumption, because the determined values almost always meet exactly the point of the power limits specified by the manufacturer. The Skellige map produces the highest load in a game for the GPU and the voltage converters. Memory temperatures are average, but the game is good for stability testing when overclocking GPU and memory.
Depending on the performance class of the graphics card to be tested, you choose the resolution between Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) and Ultra HD (3840 x 2160 pixels). It is important that all Nvidia Hairworks effects have been switched off in general and that the image quality is selected as high as possible in order to reach at least 30 FPS. The higher, the better for the maximum achievable loads and temperatures.

Doom 2016 (Volcano/OpenGL)
The game is numb lys, but if you bet on frame rates from 40-50 FPS, it's still easy to heat electrically if the screen resolution is high enough. However, Doom allows significantly higher clock rates for many games due to the slightly lower power consumption. The Witcher 3. Especially testing the highest possible boost steps (Nvidia) or of the highest P-State (AMD) is quite easy to realize with Doom.
Doom can also be interesting for the stability of the overclocked memory, as the load is even slightly higher than in "The Witcher 3". In addition, with at least 22% processor load, you are already quite good at it, because really potent cards can still be far above that.

Metro Last Light (Redux)
At Metro Last Light, the ghosts diverge a bit. On the one hand, you can even achieve the highest temperatures and loads for the memory in Full HD, but on the other hand you have to use at least WQHD or Ultra-HD to provoke really high power consumption values. If, like us, you only use Full HD in this run, the power consumption is slightly behind that of "The Witcher 3". Again, the image quality should always be chosen as high as possible, even if one should get at least 30 FPS.
However, Nvidia card owners can increase power consumption once again when they activate PhysX. AMD users can at least try GPU-PhysX on a trial basis to charge the CPU higher on at least one core. Because the average 19% processor load in our setup could be increased again. With a stronger graphics card, you can get over 30% or more.
