Today, I have my own experience test with the AERO16 (model 2023), which is not based on the usual benchmarks, but was bought with real sweat. I have been using this notebook relatively intensively for several months now and have also been lugging it around with me, as far as it made sense. I have to say that I am often on the road and would be pretty much lost without a notebook as a mobile command center. At less than a kilo, my LG Gram (the name says it all) is the ideal flight companion as a 16″ notebook, but the thin processor and, above all, graphics arms make many resource-consuming tasks impossible. Or at least it becomes very time-consuming. I noticed this at Computex 2024 when I was mainly concentrating on video reporting and reached the limits of what was reasonable for video editing with the LG.
With the AERO 16 OLED BSF-73DE994SO you have a much more powerful GeForce partner with NVEnc on board, so that the encoding of movies on the go is also much faster, apart from the now finally smoothly running preview of the timeline. As Intel and AMD also have new processors on the horizon, it’s a bit like buying a car: you’d rather buy the tried and tested facelift and automatically avoid most of the teething troubles and often enough get the more mature product for a better price. This is also the case with the Aero 16, and once you’ve had OLED, you won’t want anything else.
Notebook tests are always one of those things and if you want to be up to date, then the user experience is usually missing, which should actually be the deciding factor in the purchase. That’s why I’ve decided to provide exactly that today, because benchmarks for this notebook are already a dime a dozen. In addition to my impressions, there is also the very detailed display test from Fritz, which has brought DHL some additional income. And another experience for me, because when something is usable, you only notice it when it’s suddenly no longer there. But I’ll get to that later.
There are many things that have won me over so far and a few that drive me up the wall. This is all rather subjective, but it should also apply to the new models that will soon follow. After all, Gigabyte won’t (be able to or want to) change everything. That’s exactly why I’m not going to do the obligatory unboxing, although I did quickly get the boxes out for a group photo, because the white, innocent packaging is quite appropriate for the current price of around 1700 euros.
Technical data at a glance
