G.Skill continues its course to increase the performance of DDR5 memory and presents new RAM kits with improved clock rates and lower latencies. The new models of the Trident Z5 RGB, Trident Z5 Royal and Ripjaws M5 RGB series achieve 6800 MT/s at CL32 and 6400 MT/s at CL28 – a noticeable upgrade over the previous variants.

New specifications for 2x 48 GB and 2x 16 GB DDR5 kits
The first versions of the 2x 48 GB and 2x 16 GB RAM kits with up to 6400 MT/s at CL30 were presented last month. Now G.Skill is taking the next step and further increasing the frequencies:
- The 2x 48 GB (96 GB) kit now reaches 6800 MT/s at CL32.
- The more compact 2x 16 GB (32 GB) kit achieves 6400 MT/s at CL28.
The smaller memory quantity of the 2x 16 GB kit in particular allows the memory controller to manage higher clock rates with lower latency. All new kits support Intel’s XMP 3.0 profile and are therefore easily overclockable out-of-the-box on compatible platforms.

Test on LGA 1700 and LGA 1851 platforms
G.Skill has tested the new memory modules on current Intel platforms. The results show that the 2x 48 GB kit ran stably on the LGA 1700 socket with CL32-42-42-108, while CL32-42-42-109 was achieved on the new LGA 1851 socket. Test platforms included:
- LGA 1700: Intel Core i9-14900K on an ASUS ROG Maximus Z790 Dark Hero.
- LGA 1851: Intel Core Ultra 7 265K on an ASUS ROG Maximus Z890 Hero.
Of particular interest is the LGA 1851 socket, which impresses with improved memory support. The 2x 16 GB kit also showed impressive performance with 6400 MT/s at CL28-39-39-101 and ran stably in tests with RunMemtestPro.
Optimum performance for Intel platforms
These memory kits are aimed at users who want inherently high clock rates with low latency without delving deep into overclocking. The 6800 MT/s CL32 specification will be available for kits with 32 GB (2x 16 GB), 48 GB (2x 24 GB), 64 GB (2x 32 GB) and 96 GB (2x 48 GB). The new G.Skill DDR5 kits will be available worldwide from March 2025 via official distribution partners.
