The mouse settings in the game
At this point, I’ll make it short and sweet. In every game I know, you can set the sensitivity of the mouse under the options. If you do this, then basically the same applies as under Windows. An exact calculation of the effective DPI for each game is impossible, simply because the parameters are called differently in each game. Ultimately, you affect your mouse DPI setting by triggering a scaling effect through interpolation.
This is why I always talk about the so-called “effective” DPI. Personally, I’ve equalized the Windows influences and just use the DPI settings of my mouse and sharpen in-game via the options, so to speak, in order to have roughly the same subjective experience regarding mouse speed in every game. I then change the details using the DPI button on the mouse. For example, if I’m running around with the assault rifle and switch to a sniper rifle, I’ll turn the DPI down to 800, for example, for a little more sensitive aiming. So I only use one influence factor, the mouse sensitivity option in the respective game, regarding my effective DPI. Thus also this becomes for everyone a plannable and/or calculable affair!
At this point I can only show you a sample how to calculate the effective DPI (EDIP).
Assumption: DPI x sensitivity = EDIP
- Player A: 400 x 8 = 3200 EDPI
- Player B: 1200 x 2 = 2400 EDPI
Here’s a sample of the top 350 CS:GO Pro players (as of September 2019: prosettings.net)
- 237 Pros = 400 DPI
- 88 Pros = 800 DPI
- 15 Pros = greater than 1,000 DPI
- 10 Pros = between 400-800 DPI
The 237 Pro players who played at 400 DPI had an average (in-game) sensitivity of 2.12. Thus, the average EDPI was 848. Whether the calculation of the sensitivity in DPI is actually correct, I cannot check at this point and would hereby like to hand over the discussion to the forum. But before that, here are a few important factors!
