The mouse setting in relation to dedicated software
As mentioned earlier, there is included software for most gaming mice. In most cases, you can find other features here besides the customizable DPI levels. For example, the Sharkoon Light² 200 offers the possibility to customize all axes in terms of sensitivity.

Here it is essential that you look for similar settings in the software as the pointer acceleration under Windows. In case of doubt, you have to search the Internet to find out exactly what the function does, or it is best to ask the manufacturer! The Sharkoon Light² 200 has the option “Improve mouse pointer accuracy” marked in red. You may at this point briefly consider why I probably have not activated them? Right, that’s nothing but the pointer acceleration!

Depending on the sensor, you can also set the lift-off distance, for example. A term I didn’t even mention at the beginning. Hmm, you don’t always think of everything right away either. The lift-off-distance describes how far you have to lift your mouse from the table, so that the sensor does not move the cursor anymore. With many sensors this is not even indicated by the manufacturer, therefore applies here: Probierologie! As a rule, the lift-off distance is approx. 2-3 mm. But there are also sensors, like the Pixart PMW3389, where you can adjust this distance. Does that make a difference when gambling? Probably not, because you get used to the lift-off distance very quickly! I don’t want to go into further detail here regarding the Sharkoon Light² 200 and the dedicated software, because that will come in a separate review.
