Volume flow vs. sound pressure level
You get here a very appealing performance in the case and also on the radiator together with a quite also completely sufficient speed band. The Fractal Prisma AL-12 PWM ARGB is consistently quieter than the reference up to about 55 cfm and even significantly quieter below 40 cfm, only managing slightly less throughput at the top end of the speed range at a similar sound level. This is really top notch, especially since the fan was free of humming and audible vibrations. You can leave it like that, because it doesn’t really get that much better than that.
Those who install the Fractal Prisma AL-12 PWM ARGB should pay attention to structure-borne noise and vibrations, which can quickly find a resonator and then put the fan acoustically on the sidelines, even if the fan is quite well decoupled by the huge rubber corners. Such things are precisely the reason why we work with a large-volume and very rigid chamber and not with a thin and long wind tunnel. This also applies to the end user, who may please pay attention to a good decoupling here.
Volume flow and speeds
Once again we see the somewhat limited speed range at the lower end (at least PWM controlled), although except for this small malus you always need lower speeds than the reference for the same throughput. Otherwise, the curve is similarly balanced to that of the reference fan. The almost linear climb is good, and the curve at the top doesn’t just flatten out either. Kudos for that, too, of course. The fact that the upper limit is limited to 2000 rpm does not detract from the overall effect, as most users will prefer 1500 rpm or less anyway.
So you can see that the fan delivers what we promised (because we know the realities) and not what the manufacturer promises in the data sheet a little too optimistically. But it’s also a fact that the Fractal Prisma AL-12 PWM ARGB delivers more than decent overall and compared to the reference. Also the performance on the radiators, especially at lower speeds can fully convince, even if the fan then of course somewhat decreases. Compared to other fans with nicely colored values in the data sheet, the Fractal Prisma AL-12 PWM ARGB delivers, however, also neatly For this there is a buy tip and it is well deserved. Only the data sheet should be corrected by Fractal, because it would not have been necessary. That’s fine.
Conclusion
Those who can’t or don’t want to do without RGB will surely be happy with the Fractal Prisma AL-12 PWM ARGB. Whether as a case fan, or in use on thick radiators – as long as you don’t prefer the ultimate tornado along with matching accompanying noise, the Fractal Prisma AL-12 PWM ARGB is a really good choice. And we are once again pleased that the fans are obviously getting better in general. Good and detailed tests are certainly conducive to this. In the end, the customer benefits and the provider is happy about honest sales. I’m sure everyone can live with that bomb just fine.
