Test setup
Two of the Aspect 14 PWM fans are pre-installed in the tested version of the North and provide decent ventilation for the case. Since it is rather unusual not to include an exhaust fan when fans are already pre-installed at the factory, some readers were concerned about the possibility of heat accumulation if the heated air is not removed.
In the rear, the case offers space for a 120mm fan, while the lid can accommodate two 140mm versions. Fractal sent us the corresponding fans with which we could fully equip and test the case.
Of course, all this would not really have led to meaningful results with the low waste heat of the small Radeon RX 6600 of the test system. Therefore, I unceremoniously put a thick Radeon RX 6900XT in the Gaming X version into the case, which converts almost three times the RX 6600 into heat with a power consumption of a good 350W.
A small size comparison
Despite the stately length of 32cm, the Gaming X finds play space in the North. Not even the bezel had to be removed for mounting. For the test, I spared myself the fiddling with the support bracket, so the 6900 XT sags a bit. However, this should not influence the test result.
Test system
The test system includes the setup known from North Review, where only the graphics card was replaced. The CPU is overclocked to 4100 MHz, the graphics card runs on default settings.
