The Blackview Hero 10 is a smartphone that is characterized by its robust design and functional hardware at an acceptable price. And a big mouth. In this review, we look at various aspects of the device, including design, display, performance, camera, software, battery life and more. In this case, clamshell doesn’t mean rickety, as a small spoiler, but you have to take a closer look and scrutinize the overall design.
Design and build quality
The Blackview Hero 10 is an inexpensive foldable smartphone that, at a price of around 500 euros, is an interesting alternative to more expensive models such as the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip and Motorola Razr if you can make some compromises. The Blackview Hero 10 is designed to be robust. The casing is made from a combination of metal and plastic, which gives the device a solid feel. The corners are reinforced to better absorb shocks and the entire device is IP68 and IP69K certified, making it resistant to water and dust.

It has a 6.9-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels and supports over one billion colors and the P3 color space. Despite the inexpensive model, the display offers TÜV SÜD certification for low blue light emissions and an adaptive brightness of up to 1300 nits. Unfortunately, the refresh rate is limited to an outdated 60Hz, which is not ideal for intensive gaming, but is sufficient for everyday use as long as you don’t spend 10 hours a day scrolling through Instagram. The colors look natural and the brightness is sufficient for outdoor use. The viewing angle stability is satisfactory, and thanks to the Gorilla Glass protection, the display is well protected against scratches.

The Blackview Hero 10 is equipped with a MediaTek Helio P90 processor and 8 GB of RAM. This combination ensures reasonably smooth operation in everyday use and allows several apps to be run simultaneously without noticeable delays. The IMG PowerVR GM9446 GPU is powerful enough to run graphically not extremely demanding games smoothly at medium settings. To summarize: This hardware offers solid performance for most everyday tasks, even if it reaches its limits with more intensive applications.
