Construction Diary
When assembling systems for my friends, I’m admittedly always much neater than when I’m wrenching on my own box. I have documented the assembly with a few photos so that the article is not quite so dry.
CPU and RAM is always installed for me before the board is allowed to move into the case. It’s a lot easier to get to everything that way.
For the M.2 SSD, make sure that the protective film on the heat conduction pad of the heat sink is removed, if the board has one. At this point, I might have already put a grin on our particularly pointy heads with my not-so-obvious mistake, but more on that later.
During the assembly of the cooler, I unfortunately forgot to take pictures in my concentration. Only after the board including all necessary parts had been moved into the housing, I reached for the camera again. Still missing were the power supply and the rear case fan, which I had not mounted yet for better accessibility of the CPU connector.
The beauty of such “simple” systems is that you can achieve neat cable management without much effort.
So that the planned graphics card can be installed later without much effort, I have prepared the power cables directly on the spot.
So the owner only needs to insert the card into the PCIE slot, connect the power cables and can start right away, as I did in the following step.
