The year 2025 has only just begun and Corsair CEO, Andy Paul , has kept his word from last year and is now giving the existing team at Fanatec, the traditional German company based in Landshut (Bavaria), the opportunity to continue to expand and improve the product segment of the well-known brand. In a YouTube interview by Boosted Media with Corsair CEO, Andy Paul , you could already guess that Mr. Paul (just like me) is a friend of simracing and has been able to collect some private kilometers on the real race track in the past. He told the fans that Corsair would like to optimize some processes within Fanatec and exploit production capacities and possibilities, but that the entire team and all employees would continue to exist.
Fans of the Fanatec brand have been quite worried over the past year and for a long time did not know whether the products and the company would continue at all. Andy Paul expressed his confidence in an interview with Boosted Media and made a good impression on the simracing community. If you want, you can watch the interview here on YouTube, the rest of you can just skip it and ignore the whole thing:
A breath of fresh air in 2025 – The Clubsport GT cockpit sees the light of day
Fanatec(Corsair) introduces the new Clubsport GT cockpit series, a fixed rig without movement function for users who want to upgrade their desk setup to the next level. The cockpit is available in two different color variants, one in a black matt color or simply simple and elegant in white. According to Marc Puc, the current Marketing Manager for Simracing at Corsair , the solid frame made of thick steel tubes with a diameter of 50mm was developed for the strongest wheelbases and pedals. Fanatec promises that the material will withstand even the highest forces and will neither bend nor give way during operation.
This is exactly what a premium user with a strong “Fanatec Podium Wheelbase” with a constant torque of 25 Nm, for example, would want when the bike is firmly bolted down right in front of their nose. The manufacturer currently charges €914.95 for the rig, not including shipping costs, which are added to the order at the end. With the UPS Express option, we end up with €1095.15 – that’s €180.20 for UPS shipping alone! Well, if you want to be chic, you have to suffer.
Quick and easy assembly
The cockpit is supplied with all the necessary tools for assembly and is quickly screwed together with the help of M5, M6 and M8 Allen keys using clear and straightforward instructions. The front main frame consists of 10 different components and stands firmly on 4 rubber feet at the end. Fanatec recommends that two people get to work on the assembly, as the pre-assembled attachment for the pedals is said to be particularly heavy.
The rig even offers you the option of mounting the respective seat from Fanatec or other manufacturers in several different positions. As an example of this, Fanatec demonstrates 3 possible seat positions on the product photo on their website. To match the look of the respective steel frame, Fanatec also gives you the choice between a completely black or white-black bucket seat.
- GT position – a seat that is slightly tilted backwards.
- Formula seat position – slightly more reclined.
- Rally seat position – very upright and straight back position.
Attention – the matching Clubsport GT Racing Seat for the rig must be purchased separately!
If you want to buy the plastic-reinforced and breathable bucket seat, you can also order it directly from the Fanatec store for over 339.95 euros to complete your beloved Fanatec setup. The seat is made of foam and is said to be four times better ventilated with the breathable cover, which resembles a honeycomb structure, than you are used to from competitor products. The perforated surface structure, which we are also familiar with from shoes, clothing and PC mice with an anti-sweat section, is used here.
Behind the bolted wheelbase of your choice, you have the option of attaching a monitor that is compatible with an adjustable 100 x 100 mm mount. Including the option to mount large ultra-wide screens from 32″ – 49″.
The rig has a number of cut-outs in the 50 mm steel tubes, allowing users to lay cables neatly and tidily. The whole thing is rounded off with a support in the heel section, which allows your thick Wheelbase power supply to disappear in the area of the pedals so that it doesn’t lie on the floor.
Customize it!
No wishes remain unfulfilled here, as the store contains various additional brackets for an immersive monitor setup with 3 or even 4 monitors. The option of attaching a keyboard holder with a swivel arm, to which a small tablet, Elgato Stream elements or a mini screen can also be attached. Additional mounts for cameras, shifters, handbrake or simulator telemetry – Fanatec has thought of almost everything here, except for a cup holder!
This would be a good additional option, because if you’re already lying comfortably in your cockpit, you’ll want to have a little sip on the side – after all, sim racing can be quite strenuous and fast-paced. It’s also great to mention that you can extend the front of the PC with the GT Cockpit PC Tray from the Fanatec store and you don’t have to put the case on the floor to save additional space at home.
Almost all current Fanatec wheelbases can be screwed onto the tray above the frame, and the manufacturer also lists products from Logitech and Thrustmaster. Other suppliers not mentioned here are also said to be compatible. As an example, the manufacturer mentions on the website
- Fanatec DD1 / DD2 / CS DD / CS DD / CSL DD / DD PRO / CSW V2.5 / V2 / CSL ELITE
- Logitech DD PRO / G27 / G29 / 920
- Thrustmaster T-818 / T-GT / T-GT2 / TS-PC / TS-XW / T-500RS
The number of usable pedals is also ok:
- Fanatec CSP V3 / V2 / V1, CSP V3i, CSL, CSL ELITE
- Logitech Pro Pedals / G25 / G27 / G29 / G920
- Thrustmaster T-LCM / T3PM / T3PA Pro / T-150
As well as many other brands from various manufacturers for simracing equipment, but you have to test the size beforehand.
How much space do I need for such a setup?
Completely assembled, the entire steel frame has these dimensions, without the attachment of the monitor afterwards:
- A length of: 1675mm
- A width of: 775mm
- And a total height of: 725mm
Unfortunately, a proper setup needs space, especially if it is to be stable and not wobbly. You just have to know what you are looking for and where you want to go. In the hobby sector, there are hardly any upper limits and with this model Fanatec has brought a concept onto the market that seems well thought out at first glance, with many expansion stages and add-ons. Anyone who has the space at home and is looking for something “solid” should finally find what they are looking for at Fanatec.
Pre-orders are already possible and the next possible delivery date is currently given as January 21, 2025 on the store’s website. As this is not a paid promotional item, I’ll leave you to google for the links or browse the homepage linked below. Just leave a comment in the forum if you want to read more about SimRacing in the future… 🙂
