The Corsair Virtuoso Max tested today is a wireless gaming headset equipped with active noise cancellation (ANC) and Dolby Atmos. It offers simultaneous use of 2.4 GHz radio and Bluetooth, which enables flexible connection to different devices. The battery life is up to 60 hours, with a quick-charge function providing six hours of playtime after just 15 minutes of charging. The headset has 50 mm graphene drivers, which should deliver clear and precise sound. The workmanship is high quality, but… nevertheless, you should read the article carefully if you want to spend so much money, because as always, the devil is in the detail. Especially in the ear pads and the sounding, so this time I measured with and without EQ and also have to give a few practical tips on how to put them on correctly. But first things first…
Like the Virtuoso Wireless we have already tested, the Virtuoso Max is once again made by Horn from Hải Phòng. This is an OEM manufacturer (Original Equipment Manufacturer) that specializes in the production of high-quality electronic products and audio accessories. The company is known for producing a wide range of headsets and audio solutions for renowned brands worldwide. Horn is well known in the industry for its flexibility and innovation, offering customized solutions for both gaming headsets and professional audio applications.
You get what you pay for and unfortunately the Corsair Virtuoso Max Wireless gaming headset is not really cheap. With a current street price of around 325 euros, the bar is already extremely high and the air is getting pretty thin overall if you apply the yardstick of this price class. However, many other headsets in this performance class are no cheaper. The headset is positioned in the premium segment and comparable wireless gaming headsets from other manufacturers are unfortunately in similar price ranges.
The SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless (test) offers decent audio quality and is priced at around €299. The Audeze Maxwell, with excellent sound, costs around 319 euros. And the Sony INZONE H9, equipped with active noise suppression, is available for around 299 euros, but doesn’t quite sound like mine. These prices can vary depending on the retailer and current offers, but there is usually always a three at the top of the price. Today we will find out whether the headset still offers acceptable value for money.
Scope of delivery and unboxing
Unboxing the Corsair Virtuoso Max is an experience in itself and leaves a solid first impression. The packaging is attractively designed and offers a touch of luxury that underlines the high quality of the product. Ok, you can expect that in the 300 euro class. After opening the box, the headset is carefully and securely presented in a hard-shell transport box with a foam holder that protects it from damage. The way the components are arranged gives the impression that the OEM has carefully planned every detail to provide the future user with a high-quality unboxing experience. As we all know, the eye is always involved and somehow you have to justify the purchase price to yourself.
As soon as the headset is removed, you can see the other accessories, which are stored in a separate compartment. Each part is securely fastened, preventing anything from moving during transportation. The USB cable is neatly folded and looks just as high-quality as the headset itself, which leaves a positive overall impression.
The scope of delivery of the Corsair Virtuoso Max Wireless gaming headset is well thought out and offers everything you need for immediate use. In addition to the headset itself, a detachable microphone, a USB-C charging cable, a 3.5 mm audio cable, a USB wireless dongle and an elegant storage bag are included. The included cables are robust and offer sufficient length for flexible use. The microphone can be seamlessly attached to the headset and ensures improved communication. Overall, the scope of delivery is high-quality and practical, allowing users to get started straight away without the need for additional accessories.
Technical data
The headset’s drivers are 50 mm graphene-coated neodymium speakers designed to provide precise audio reproduction and cover a wide frequency range from 20 Hz to 40 kHz. These drivers are designed for high fidelity and are said to capture even the finest details in audio, which is beneficial for both gaming and music playback. So says Corsair. Let’s take another look later. The headset supports a wireless connection via 2.4 GHz wireless technology with a range of up to 18 meters and also offers Bluetooth connectivity, which enables simultaneous connection with multiple devices. This makes the Virtuoso Max particularly flexible and versatile.
A wired connection is also possible, which makes it easier to use the headset on different platforms. The battery life is up to 60 hours, with an integrated quick-charge function that provides up to six hours of use after just 15 minutes of charging. Another technical highlight is the omnidirectional microphone, which is detachable and promises high voice quality. With a sampling rate of 24 bit/96 kHz, the microphone delivers a precise and clear voice recording that is particularly suitable for online communication and streaming. The headset also features active noise cancellation (ANC), which effectively minimizes ambient noise for an undisturbed audio experience. An integrated Dolby Atmos sound profile ensures immersive spatial audio reproduction, which is particularly beneficial when gaming.
