The popular Corsair RMx series has received an upgrade that brings it up to the ATX v3.1 standard. This means that all new RMx units now have 12V 2×6 connectors and can deliver up to 200% of their maximum power. Reason enough for me to once again let my friend Aris from Hardwarebusters have his say (and picture) about this on our site, as he has not only intensively tested this power supply, which costs around 160 euros, but has also officially certified it through his company Cybenetics. As this will certainly be of interest to you, I am happy to offer him the platform to share his findings with you on a case-by-case basis. And don’t forget, his website and YouTube channel also offer real gems in terms of really well-founded reviews! The power supply is also featured in his article on the best ATX v3.x & PCIe 5.x power supplies.
The Corsair RMx series has been updated to meet the requirements of the ATX v3.1 standard, which requires, among other things, that a power supply can withstand up to 200% of its maximum power for short periods of time. Another special feature of the new models is the fan speed controller, which can be used to adjust the fan speed at low loads, from zero rpm to maximum speed. For example, if a fan speed of 500-600 rpm is selected at low load, this serves as a starting point and increases as the thermal load on the power supply increases. Instead of providing a switch to select or deselect the fan’s semi-passive mode, Corsair has created the ability to determine the fan’s starting speed. In today’s review, the second most powerful model of the RMx ATX v3.1 series with a maximum power of 850W is tested. The 1000W model has already been evaluated.
