Even though many enthusiasts are currently looking for potent power supplies according to the new ATX 3.0 standard (and hardly find anything on the market) after the launch of NVIDIA’s ADA top models and the tiresome wrangling about the 12VHPWR connector, the Corsair HX1500i together with the additionally offered cable including the 12-4-pin connector is a good alternative.
Reason enough for me to let my friend Aris from Hardwarebusters have his say (and picture) on our site as well, because he not only tested this power supply intensively, but also officially certified it accordingly via his company Cybenetics. Since it is certainly interesting for you as well, I am happy to offer him the platform here to share his findings with you. And don’t forget, also his Website and the YouTube channel offer real gems of really well-founded reviews!
Corsair HX1500i PSU Review: The Beast!
Corsair’s HXi line has received an interesting addition with the HX1500i power supply, which also uses a semi-digital CWT platform and offers the customer a lot of power and high performance. With a street price of currently under 208 Euros, it is of course one of the more expensive power supplies on the market, but at the same time it is also one of the few that are supported by software (iCUE) for monitoring and controlling some important functions.
Corsair has taken another step forward with the release of the HX1000i and HX1500i. The HX1500i uses a modified CWT platform codenamed CST. Corsair spent a year modifying and optimizing the design, as well as bringing performance and reliability to the desired level. I remember that time as several HXi units left the lab. The most important thing about the HXi devices is the semi-digital platform that allows the control and monitoring of the power supply through the iCUE software. The added advantage of digital controls is that they can “talk” to the system, allowing for several interesting functions.
In the case of the HX1500i, iCUE lets you switch between single-rail and multi-rail modes, control fan speed, and monitor the power supply’s performance. I’m not a big fan of iCUE, mainly because it’s a bit complicated since it supports a wide range of Corsair products, but the fact is that it offers a lot of options. You have to get used to this software to be able to use it efficiently.

Before we get to the unboxing, the description and the individual tests on the next pages, I also have the test protocol (Cybenetics Report) for you for the readers of igor’sLAB. Here you can find all the important results of the certification. Of course, it cannot replace this review including an explanation of the individual results.
