AutoCAD 2023 with the customized Cadalyst benchmark suite
It’s nothing new that the CPU ranking has changed from time to time over the years. AutoCAD has never really been an AMD domain, but the Ryzen 5000 was able to catch up with Comet Lake S for the first time and even take a slight lead. It was even good enough for Rocket Lake. Then came Alder Lake and was able to really annoy AMD’s Ryzens. Well, and then Raptor Lake… Unfortunately, AutoCAD is extremely CPU-intensive and there is very little to parallelize in the normal work area. What counts is often what a few cores are able to achieve. It will therefore be exciting to see what the Ryzen 7 9800X3D can now achieve
In 2D and 3D, the GeForce RTX 4090 is almost always limited by the CPU, even in Ultra HD, although things are looking a little better with the newer CPUs from AMD and Intel.
Let’s now take a look at the individual results, where we can see where AMD’s new Ryzen is a little weaker and Intel, for once, is even better with the Core Ultra 200 than with Raptor Lake (refresh). However, the Ryzen 7 9800X still cuts a good figure, at least in the Ryzen family, and virtually sends the Ryzen 7 7800X3D into retirement. The bottom line is that all benchmarks, apart from the pure CPU performance of the two smaller models, clearly go back to Intel, so we have to be fair in the end. Arrow Lake even pulverizes Raptor Lake and Intel will certainly regret that AutoCAD is not a game.
