AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS tested with Cinebench R23, up to 26% faster than R7 6800H

A Chinese tech outlet provides another leak showing AMD’s upcoming 8-core Zen4 architecture processors. Just yesterday, the same account published the very first results of the integrated Radeon 780M RDNA3 GPU in 3DMark TimeSpy, to today also publish the first CPU benchmarks.

Going by the name Ryzen 7 7840HS, the processor is an 8-core / 16-thread CPU with a base clock of 3.8 GHz and a boost of up to 5.1 GHz. It is part of the new product series and the completely new “Phoenix” core. It is the first processor from AMD to use the Zen4 and RDNA3 architectures together. It is important to know that this is not the flagship CPU, there is still the 7940HS SKU with 100-200 MHz higher clock rates. In addition, the HS-series is designed to run at 35 to 45W base power; therefore, they are designed for slightly more frugal gaming systems, unlike the HX-SKUs for 55W+ TDPs.

According to the screenshot shared, the CPU scores 16854 points in the Cinebench R23 multi-core test. The single score is not displayed, but it is relatively easy to decipher it based on the ratio to 1588 points. At this point it should be noted that the single-core frequency is not correct for this sample, for this reason the score has been hidden. Should it reach the advertised clock rates, it could be at 1800 points, the informant claims.

According to a quick comparison, this 45W processor should compete with Intel’s CPUs of the 12th generation. Generation, such as the Core i9-12900H. Furthermore, it is 26% faster than the last generation Ryzen 7 6800H. As mentioned earlier, three processors are currently competing in this performance segment, and many more will follow in the next few weeks. AMD will launch its Ryzen 7000HS series in March. AMD therefore still has some time to tune the drivers and publish more data.

Weiss da jemand was ob irgendein Hersteller was in der mache hat. Nicht Lap oder Notebocks. Nur Board mit SOC. Da der Phönix ja BGA Design hat. Nix Sockel.
