On July 31, the Ryzen 9000 series will be launched with the promising Zen 5 technology. But AMD has already published plans for the future. After Zen 5 and Zen 5c, Zen 6 and Zen 6c are also in the pipeline. However, the roadmap leaves open when these technologies will appear. Considering the period between Zen 4 and Zen 5, which is around two years, Zen 6 could possibly be available as early as 2026, although this remains speculation.
New Zen technologies often bring new sockets with them. There have been various speculations that the AM5 socket will support four Ryzen generations. AMD was contacted and the company confirmed that the AM5 socket is guaranteed to be supported until 2027. For the time being, there would be no commitment as to which Zen technology would receive which socket. However, this suggests that Zen 6 could also run on the AM5 socket.
We wanted to clarify one of the comments made on stage during the engineering roundtable. During the session Joe made a comment about four generations of CPU support on the AM5 platform. This was meant to be a hypothetical to prompt discussion around designing a platform that spans multiple years and generations, as opposed to starting with a fresh platform each time.
As announced at Computex, we remain committed that the AM5 platform will be supported through 2027 .
In addition to the CPU roadmap, AMD also presented plans for its AI chips. Currently, the latest AI chip is the AI Ryzen 300 and in the future, the next chip will enable natural, voice-based interaction between humans and machines. The aim is to introduce agentic AI and a seamless, always-on, AI-supported user experience.
