AMD today announced a redesigned Athlon 200GE with a Radeon Vega 3 graphics card. It is certainly intended for everyday PC applications and is very obviously aimed at the office-only area. In addition, AMD now also offers the second-generation Ryzen PRO and Athlon PRO desktop processors for the commercial market.
Combining the x86 "Zen+" core with the Radeon Vega graphics architecture in a diverse system-on-chip (SOC) design, the Athlon 200GE desktop processor offers versatile and reliable computing power for a wide range of applications. They range from daily requirements such as browsing and office work to advanced workloads required in high-resolution, not extremely demanding PC games.
According to AMD, the new APU offers up to 67 percent more graphics performance and up to two times more energy efficiency, as well as 84 percent faster "high-definition PC gaming" than the co-promoter. However, the extent to which these figures are correct would still have to be tested.
Model | CPU cores | Threads | Processor Frequency | Graphics computational units | TDP (Watts) | SEP (USD) |
AMD Athlon™ 200GE | 2 | 4 | 3.2GHz | 3 | 35w | $55 |
In addition, the Athlon PRO desktop processor and the 2nd Gen AMD Ryzen PRO family will include four new processors:
Model | Cores | Threads | Clock Rate Max Boost/Base (GHz) | Cache | TDP (Watts) | Graphics computational units |
AMD Athlon™ PRO 200GE | 2 | 4 | 3.2 | 5MB | 35w | 3 |
AMD Ryzen 7 PRO 2700X | 8 | 16 | 4.1/3.6 | 20MB | 105w | N/A |
AMD Ryzen 7 PRO 2700 | 8 | 16 | 4.1/3.2 | 20MB | 65w | N/A |
AMD Ryzen 5 PRO 2600 | 6 | 12 | 3.9/3.4 | 19MB | 65w | N/A |
Designed for business, AMD PRO processors provide reliability, security, and performance, according to AMD. To meet the needs of today's compute-intensive, enterprise-oriented workloads. The entire product range of AMD PRO processors is also intended to offer commercial quality and reliability. The aim is not only to ensure the longevity of the platform, but also to support manageability according to open standards. This allows for greater flexibility in managing in a multi-vendor client environment at an enterprise-friendly price.
