AMD appears to be expanding its range of graphics cards with two new models aimed at the needs of price-conscious gamers. The Radeon RX 7400 and RX 7300 are intended to close the gap in the entry-level segment, which has so far remained untouched by the RDNA 3 series. Until now, AMD’s RDNA 3 series has focused on more powerful GPUs, starting with the RX 7600 in the price range of 250 to 270 US dollars. However, older generations based on the RDNA and RDNA 2 architectures also offered entry-level models under 200 US dollars. The new Radeon RX 7400 and RX 7300 are intended to fill this gap and represent an attractive option for gamers with a limited budget.
According to a leak by well-known leaker @KOMACHI_ENSAKA, the new models are based on the Navi 33 SKU and are labeled “0x7499”. While the exact specifications have not yet been confirmed, previous generations and the performance increase of the RDNA 3 series indicate that the RX 7400 could reach approximately the performance of the RX 6500 XT. It is expected that the RX 7400 will have a 64-128 bit bus system with 4/6 GB VRAM and 1024-1536 cores. The RX 7300, on the other hand, could have a similar memory configuration but with a reduced number of shader units, possibly between 640 and 896 cores.
These specifications would clearly position the new GPUs below the RX 7600, which currently represents the lower end of the RDNA 3 range. These new cards could be particularly interesting for gamers who play in Full HD resolution and still expect a smooth gaming experience. The new GPUs could compete with the integrated graphics units of the Ryzen 8000 APUs, which are based on the improved RDNA 3.5 graphics architecture. Should the Radeon RX 7400 and RX 7300 significantly outperform these APUs in terms of gaming performance, they could be an attractive option for budget gaming PCs. This would be particularly relevant for users who prefer a dedicated graphics card but still want to stay in the budget range.
It remains to be seen whether AMD will launch an RX 7500 or 7500 XT alongside the RX 7400 and RX 7300 to offer another option in the sub-$200 price segment. These models could be positioned close to the RX 6600 in terms of performance, offering a wider range of choices for price-conscious buyers, and the introduction of the Radeon RX 7400 and RX 7300 would strengthen AMD’s commitment to the budget segment and offer gamers a wider choice of graphics cards to suit their individual needs and budgets. The potential addition of these entry-level models to the RDNA 3 lineup could help AMD appeal to a broader audience and further expand its market share in the graphics card space.
In conclusion, the coming months will show how the new models perform on the market. If the specifications and price are right, AMD’s Radeon RX 7400 and RX 7300 could create an attractive offering for entry-level and budget-conscious gamers looking for a cost-effective way to enhance their gaming experience.
