Volume flow vs. sound pressure level
Of course, every customer has different premises and you get here a very appealing performance in the case with a sufficient speed band. The Alphacool Rise Aurora 140 mm is slightly louder in terms of sound pressure level in direct comparison to the reference in relation to the achieved airflow, but ends up in completely different airflow ranges. This is certainly compensated for by the static pressure, especially since the performance on the radiator looks completely different (better). In the open case, one has to admit defeat in the CFM range of the reference fan, but at full speed, it can still push and exceeds the CFM values of the reference by far.
But then it puts it into perspective if you have to think about a push-pull operation for the reference, for example, because with the Alphacool Rise Aurora 140 mm you can usually do without it, because even so there is enough pressure. A not quite as loud fan is then still quieter than two quiet ones in total.
Whoever installs the fan should pay attention to the structure-borne noise and vibrations despite the decoupling, which can quickly find a resonator and then put the fan acoustically on the sidelines, even if the fan is decoupled quite well by the rubber corners. Such things are precisely the reason why we work with a large-volume and very rigid chamber and not with a thin and long wind tunnel. This also applies to the end user, who may please pay attention to a good decoupling here.
Volume flow and speeds
We can see that the volume flow is bought by slightly higher speeds, which in turn also explains the slightly higher noise level. This is tolerable because the maximum range is almost open-ended, while the reference already stops at around 80 cfm. The 20 cfm more here are a real announcement and otherwise the push-only principle, so important for radiators, applies again if it is to remain quiet and vibration-free.
Conclusion
The Alphacool Rise Aurora 140 mm is certainly not a bad case fan either if you turn it down a bit, but it is most likely to find its battleground on radiators, which also can’t be thick enough. But then the spirits awaken and the rest can dress warmly. with just under 20 euros, ern is not cheap, but still cheap in comparison to the recently tested EKL Alpenföhn Wing Boost 3 with ARGB fans a real cream slice, in which the called performance also corresponds to what is guaranteed in the data sheet.
Honest fans, that certainly sums it up best here now. I won’t give it an explicit buy recommendation because the Alphacool Rise Aurora 140 mm isn’t the best case fan for the money, but it has honestly (and I mean that literally) earned the performance booster for one of the most recommendable radiator fans. That’s pure draught at a fair price. And yes, it can glow too. And how… 😉
