The Deepcool PL550D currently costs around 49 euros, making it the cheapest (almost) ATX v3.1 power supply on the market, even if it is advertised as ATX 3.0. This price would still be very low even for ATX power supplies of the previous generation. However, although the maximum output is limited to 550W, this device can withstand power peaks of up to 1100W!
Reason enough for me to once again let my friend Aris from Hardwarebusters have his say (and picture) on our site, as he has not only tested this power supply intensively, but has also officially certified it through his company Cybenetics. As it will certainly be of interest to you too, I am happy to offer him the platform to share his findings with you here on a case-by-case basis. And don’t forget, his website and YouTube channel also offer real gems in the form of really well-founded reviews! The Deepcool PL550D is also featured in his article on the best ATX v3.x & PCIe 5.x power supplies.
Deepcool is the first company to offer very affordable ATX v3.x power supplies with their PL-D series. I have already tested the PL800D, PL750D and PL650D and they all offer decent performance considering their price. It’s not easy for an older design to output 200% of maximum power to be compatible with the PCIe 5.1 CEM requirements, but Helly Technology has managed to pull it off. The PL-D series consists of four members with power ratings from 550W to 800W. In this review, I will be introducing the smallest member of the range, which could have the makings of a real P/L cracker.
