Temperature behavior under full load
In a typical GPGPU scenario, we first test the different clock variants for the temperature development and the resulting fan speeds, which allows a first conclusion about the expected noise development. First of all, it is noticeable that the card stays cooler when the “Lethal Boost” mode is activated compared to the normal factory clock. This is achieved by a distinctively aggressive fan profile that is activated together with the overclocking mode.
If you look at the fan speed curves, the ample 60% at 1100 MHz still seems tolerable at first, although a very concise noise level already results in acoustic reality. however, 73% with “Lethal Boost” or 78% with “Lethal Boost” and the clock fixed at 1201 MHz are simply deafening in the end. We will illustrate this inferno in the video on the next page, but we can already state that values of well over 60 dB(A) can be described as unbearable.
Temperature behavior during gaming
Let’s now test the different clock variants for temperature development and the resulting fan speeds during gaming. You can clearly see that the somewhat more restrained fan profile results in higher GPU temperatures at 1100 MHz, but they are all still within an acceptable range. Both overclocking modes cause an almost identical temperature development, which is significantly lower than the factory clock.
The noise level is correspondingly low at a clock rate of 1100 MHz, although it is quite loud here as well. However, fan speeds just below the 70% mark during gaming are still clearly audible even with headphones and are not suitable for creating a real feel-good ambience.
In order to get a better picture of the figures listed here, we have documented the typical speeds for the respective load conditions with the corresponding videos on the next page. However, we can already state in an interim conclusion that the storm in a teacup becomes a real tornado with the activation of the “Lethal Boost” at the latest.
