And here is a nice overview of the why, wherefore and why of the individual parts. I make no claim to “the best possible selection”, most of it came up at short notice, was cheap or could be picked up nearby.
CPU / Mainboard Bundle
Of course, the good price played a predominant role, but since I can almost hear the clamor for Ryzen in the comments, here is another reason: Gaming is done in FullHD and usually no particularly CPU-heavy games. The graphics card will be much more of a limiting factor at higher settings. By the way, I have already tested this cooler:

Of course, I would have actually preferred to take an AM4 processor, so that you can really upgrade a lot of performance very easily later on. But what I could find did not fit into the budget. However, since the partner’s system has a current Ryzen platform, it can simply be installed in the computer here as a “hand-me-down” during the next upgrade and the already existing 3200Mhz CL16 RAM can still be used well.
Unfortunately, the I/O shield was missing from the mainboard, but once again my 3D printer was able to help out. The STL for this can be downloaded on Thingiverse.
Graphics card
The 16-series from Nvidia fit well to the still available budget, just something in the still quite good mid-range. Besides several offers for GTX 1660 and 1660 Super GPUs, the 1660 Ti came in fresh as a new sale ad, and at that price, I jumped at it. The fact that this model also fits well in terms of color was more of a coincidence.

Even more than 3.5 years after release (Feb. 22, 2019), this graphics card can still keep up well; it does not have to perform more than FullHD anyway. But more about that on a following page.
Memory
Here it was clear to me from the beginning that I would not buy anything used. Even though SSDs usually do not die “just like that”, the usually small savings are not worth the risk. Especially since the really good Samsung 980 with 1 TB capacity can still be used for many years and taken to new systems without lacking performance. More memory can then simply be bought later, all slots in the case are still free for this.
Power supply unit
I could now say that the Pure Power 10 is a good and inexpensive choice for mid-range systems and that’s why it was installed here, but the reason is quite simple: It was still available, so it may now continue to do its duty here. It does not have nice features like detachable cables, but with enough space under the power supply cover, that is not really necessary.
However, a computer alone is of course not enough, so on the next page we will continue with the input devices.
