Those who already know my previous articles also know about my second hobby besides hardware: 3D printers! And today it’s about how well both interests can be combined. What follows is a mix of image gallery, buildlog and review:
My goal was that I wanted to “produce” the case for a gaming system by myself, mainly to see how far I would come. But since my skills in modeling objects are rather limited and I mostly stick to simple things, the print files had to come from somewhere else.
Searching on the usual portals like Thingiverse brought up many results, but in the end I decided to go with a paid model from Cults3D. After a short chat with the designer I bought the files from him, since they seemed to be exactly what I wanted.
The whole thing will be printed on my Prusa MK3S with some help from my second printer, the well known Creality Ender 3. Since regular PLA usually cannot withstand higher temperatures for long, PETG is used as the material. More precisely, Prusament PETG in Galaxy Black as well as Signal White.
To visually enhance the printed parts, I use a textured printing plate from Prusa. But more about that later, on the next few pages I will firstly go over the used hardware in detail. Interested in the topic of 3D printing? Then it’s worth checking out this article of mine!
