Hallo everyone
i am kind of new to this . Not WindowZ :) but GPU flashing
Rest assured i know my way around the command prompt
unfortunately as per usual; the internet is full of so much useless information . I rather come to the right place now and ask 'igors' experts .
I been given so much nonsense info over the last 2 months . I am very frustrated :(
So i have a powercolor 5700Xt
this one :

1st issue
when i click on the little arrow in GPU-z i get to upload the bios from my card . So when i try this
I get to see this card :

Why ? am i seeing this ? this is not my card ?

next thing that confuses me and i get different info about
Which side to flash ?
oc or silent
And why ? \because no one seem to answer ever any real questions . Some say don't flash OC side it bricks your Card . , or you wont be able to go back some say never flash Silent side but dont give an reasons ?
So much nonsense on the internet. its very frustrating
IMHO and as a side note
its better to say nothing then nonsense !
Its a tip for life really

Anyway enough frustrations and moaning from me
Let the experts talk

Also this >:
Is this for my card ? can I apply this ?

I really hope i find the expertise here

Many thanks in advance

It seems you don't have modded bios?
In my short experience, modding bios gives 5-6-7 mh on 5700xt, maybe lower power usage too
try core 1350 or 1400
core vdd 750-800 ( as low as possible)
mem clock 900
I get 56 with 1400/900 at 120w with 750 vdd

And my card is exactly the same Powercolor Red Dragon
I flashed my "silent" bios , saving it beforehand.
Before the flash I was getting ~49
Mining with HiveOS & Phoenix miner
Attaching my "modded" bios file - memory timings as advised in the tutorial from MiniMe, changed power cap and several settings as per tutorial.
The steps with power curve not made, cause these need the card to be in a windows box :/

I'll be happy if someone with more knowledge can improve it

Thanks Restless
I doubt i can improve it :)
What i done now since yesterday is exactly that
I followed the excellent Guide from MIniMe
Also I have only been able to flash the silent side
I took a backup of the silent bios and then flashed both with the method outlined by MInIMe (incl Apple Timing)
So now both my cards run at approx. 1200 core 1800 Memory and 750mV
BUT i had 2 crashes in 24 hr ....not sure this is right it never crashed at 49mh/s ( you see i had the exact same before flashing
The flashing saved me 20 W and gave a few Mh/s but if ti crashes twice a day ??
not so sure
First thing i done is swap back to Phoenix from Lolminer
See how this goes today . See if it crashes as well
My temps are great in general much cooler now so i don't really know why it crashes
All in all looks better in Phoenix but it s only running an hour

What does still confuse me is the difference in wattage between 1 and 2 ? why is this ?

Oh yeah another noob question i have ..
When we talk about changing values now
Do i need to reflash the card with any new value I might wanna try because i be honest I cant change anything in Afterburner
As we know for starters in afterburner you cannot change the memory voltage at all . And i really want to avoid wattman amd crap bloatware

What you wrote :
try core 1350 or 1400
core vdd 750-800 ( as low as possible)
mem clock 900
I get 56 with 1400/900 at 120w with 750 vdd

I cant i would have to re-flash the card right ?
At the moment I run the exact values as in the guide from MiniMe
And also if i would try to change anything now in afterburner i cant change the voltage so it seem to always make the miner crash
any small change . i.e change core clock . In afterburner it sits at 1260 and runs at 1200, Memory on the other hand shows 1800 and is set in slider at 18000 but any changes here and it crashes . I guess its the Voltage that also need changing an i cant in afterburner ? i guess ?

ah, you use Windows.
Can you share your BIOS? I guess following all steps will give lower power usage (which my bios lacks)
as for settings - add these to Phoenix miner command line:
-cvddc 750 -cclock 1350 -mclock 900

As for different power usage - all cards are different, afaik 5-10W could due to different quality chip/memory

YEP difference in silicone :)
its a fact
Look at mine
I have set the core now simply to 1300 in afterburner and it done something :)

I kind of didn't wanna swap to Phoenix as Lolminer has the lovely dual mining DAG . It doesn't have to create a DAG every time its time for dual mine
So in effect loose too much time creating the DAG every 90 mins..
MMHH bummer this ...really preferred LOLminer for this
Never mind
Just for my understanding
-mclock 900 in windows is 1800 right ?
That means I now have: 750 1300 1800 (see screenshot )

Still confused about he wattage ? why is it so wildly different between the 2 cards ?

just run gpu-z or look in afterburner - it will show your current speed/voltage
Thanks for the bios I'll try and report :) hopefully will lower my power usage :)

PS: my card still uses 117W no less :(

not all cards are equal :) Look at mine and the wattage or temps ... exactly the same cards but not really

Also not so happy
Running phoenix again this afternoon.
Look at all these stales ?
5 hr 50 stales ???
Whats up with that ...Phoenix 5.2b

Well to be honest i might i be back on LolMiner
at least it doesn't need to load the DAG all the time when dual mining.
It only loads it once ...and you actually get shares Phoenix need to load and make the DAG every time it switches ...super slow and waste of time ./
Mmh , is this not too much stales there ?

5.2b is way outdated version - its a beta of 5.2!
You need at least 5.3c, current stable is 5.4c and beta is 5.5b

no idea what is this dual mining o-0

I mine dual as in It switches to ZIL every 1 1/2 hr and mines for 1 to 2 mins
Its extra Income ..And i support ZIL ...
Anyway ... i will have a look at latest Phoenix version but given it doesn't preload the dual mine DAG I don't see me going Phoenix

I have followed the excellent post by MinMe now and fine tuned for my 'Silicone' :)
So for anyone left like me who was still confused because no one mentions it
POWERCOLOR 5700XT 8 G : FLASH THE SILENT SIDE !
For the rest there is no better guide then MiniMe:

And if your lazy :
My rom doing all the stuff MiniMe tell you to do :) incl Apple Straps

This is awesome sauce
minus 25W plus 4Mh/s
but I really cannot switch back to Phoenix. Dual mining Zil, this miner is just better . Phoenix just doesn't do the smooth 'Dag swap' at full speed i get with LolMiner
I am not touching it :) it stays like this. Runs like clockwork

GPU2 gpu1

Sure thing
I use LOLminer for dual mine on my amd
so the command line for dual mine ETH and ZIL ::

lolMiner.exe --algo ETHASH --pool !POOL! --user !ETHWALLET! --pass !ZILWALLET!@!ETHPOOL!@4G --worker 5700xt2 --devices AMD --enablezilcache 1 --longstats 60 --shortstats 15 --apiport 3333
timeout 10

Just have a look in the lolminer folder ./ they provide a lot of examples .

And the bios we should thanks MIniMe for I just followed the advice. I like . . 24/7 is a long time these settings are great not the absolute max but also at a lower temp ! love it!

Another tip i have ...
For the longest i was wondering what to do about restart if miner crashes
I am sorry most watchdogs included are rubbish. All that happens is it attempts a restart doesn't kill the process and really just hangs .
So i gave up on any miner with restart

instead , for windows i found the perfect solution . tiny application ! no install needed : RestartOnCrash.exe
it monitors processes and if not found i.e crashed it restarts them ...running this now for a few weeks its great
It doesn't just handle .exe it also knows to use the specified .bat file for config on the miner exe .
It handles more then one miner software and has never failed yet to restart my miners

i attached ithe exe . just rename to .exe
