Hi,
I am failing to update Gigabyte 5700 XT. The same procedure updates the BIOS on MSI cards with no problem. I follow the instructions on Igors Lab.

The sign of having trouble with the card bios flash shows in GPU-Z. After flash using amdvbflash the values of GPU and memory frequencies is empty. With stock bios there are Mhz frequencies.

Is there any known problems with flashing Gigabyte cards?
Any suggestions on what other forums I may ask for assistance?
Is it possible that the OEM bios is signed, and any modified bios will be rejected?
If the bios is signed, any tools to resign, or would I need to buy a card from a different vendor?

Thanks,

Alley Cat

Salutari,
Andy
It seems that every video card model, whether it is 5700xt or non xt, has its own electricity consumption, below which it cannot be negotiated. The best example: Asus tuf rx 5700 consumption 70 w and xfx 5700 xt thicc iii with consumption of 138 w, if I try to go down below these values, it crashes and it seems logical to me. In conclusion is the lottery with the purchase of video cards, each with its own luck!

Last update with mixed platform rx5600xt, 5700, 5700 xt. Picture below:

Hey Costis,

Agreed. This is not however I'm pointing out. Power values defined in the MPT:

- Under Power and Voltages, set:
Maximum Voltage GFX: 1050 mV
[must not be lower than this as the MVDD default value in the vbios is at 1350 mV and the VDD must be within 300 mV range with MVDD or components may get degraded and permanent damaged]
Maximum Voltage SoC: 1050 mV
[must not be lower than this like the Maximum Voltage GFX]
Minimum Voltage GFX: 750 mV
Minimum Voltage SoC: 750 mV
Power Limit GPU: 120 W
TDC Limit GFX: 126 A (118 A for non XT)
TDC Limit SoC: 14 A (12 A for non XT)

Highlighted in red seem to cause a problem with Micron memory.

Regards,
Andy

correct, move the limit up, 140w

Thank you for your kind update, I will revert back the TDP to 125 watt, I would appreciate your feedback.

Hey Costis,
Thank you for the suggestion. I strongly feel that setting power limit to 140W will significantly increase the power usage of my test setup (reported here and here). To recap - my aim is to yield highest hash rate at the mining pool with the lowest energy consumption measured at wall.
Since @Mini_Me undertook an effort to create a generic and the advanced vBIOS guide I am reporting a discrepancy affecting specific GPU.

Andy

Hey Mini_Me,

A bit of in depth comparison of the power consumption impact. For this demonstration the TRM is used for the duration of 15 min each run and cold start.

Thank you very much for your kind and informative feedback, How about the TDP 125 W?

Consumption for more video cards or did you write wrong and forgot to put the comma 76, 6 >>> 96.3?
In my setup all rigs are furnished with 6x RX5700XT MECH OC and the rate is for a single GPU. The "Usage at wall" is for a whole mining rig in WATT units as it shows on the meter; hence 766 WATT.

Andy

I had to revisit MPT features and the reason why my Micron based GPUs were failing at Power Limit GPU: 120 W are directly linked to the DS_SOCCLK: Uncheck (Disable). After thorough comparison with a working vBIOS - it has to be enabled, or miner will fail to start.
Settings are:
DS_GFXCLK: Uncheck (Disable)
DS_SOCCLK: Check (Enable)
DS_DECFCLK: Uncheck (Disable)
ACDC: Uncheck (Disable)
Interestingly - Samsung based GPUs are "just fine".

Once again, thank you very much for your kind and informative feedback,

What we have learned from this now is I believe it is a matter of 1 watt if the DS_SOCCLK is disabled, I believe if the TDP is set to 121 W it will work with the Micron memory and this is a good things as this indicate that the recommended TDP limit is not less than 122 W for cards with Micron memory.

Hi everyone! I bougth one AORUS rev1.0 used. Im trying to configure vbios and OC. I modded silent vbios with the last update of @Mini_Me guide but im having continious reboots and the OC is not agressive.

I attach hiveOS config and if someone kindly help me I would be very grateful.1610528210141.png

How can I see the real state of the card? what I have to look?. I can refound If im not sure is going to work well.

thank you very much all!

BTW: 1st I did was a reflashed with the AORUS tool (AORUS Radeon™ RX 5700 XT 8G (rev. 1.0) to both vBios.
