Hi,
I am failing to update Gigabyte 5700 XT. The same procedure updates the BIOS on MSI cards with no problem. I follow the instructions on Igors Lab.

The sign of having trouble with the card bios flash shows in GPU-Z. After flash using amdvbflash the values of GPU and memory frequencies is empty. With stock bios there are Mhz frequencies.

Is there any known problems with flashing Gigabyte cards?
Any suggestions on what other forums I may ask for assistance?
Is it possible that the OEM bios is signed, and any modified bios will be rejected?
If the bios is signed, any tools to resign, or would I need to buy a card from a different vendor?

Thanks,

Alley Cat

Friend of mine opened up my vbios and indeed his says what mine says, samsung memory.
My apologies it seems the fault it is from my side as I loaded the wrong vbios,

Indeed, after double checking, your vbios is v.F40 with Samsung memory,

I will modify it with Apple straps and I will make it modifiable as well.

was able to force flash it with this new bios, no issues getting 55 with the same setting show above and now the fine tuning begins. Many thanks!
By the way, you can follow the guide for tuning in the kindly attached link below,

Let us verify everything step by step to ensure that all is checked,

- If your motherboard bios is not updated yet to the latest version then please clear the CMOS and update it,

- I believe that a proper and sufficient power supply was chosen for the rig(s) and all the components were connected correctly and properly to the power supply following the motherboard manual,

- I believe that a proper and sufficient ventilation is already provided for the rig(s),

- In order to prevent the drop out 0.0 hashrate of the card, go in the motherboard bios and set R6 (Render Standby) to Disabled,

- Remember to set the PCI-e configuration from Auto to Gen 3 in the motherboard bios setting,

- I recently refined the guide again on pages 2, 15, 28 and 32, the guides that interest you are on pages 15 and 32, please check it out and note that the guide on page 15 is for cards with sensitive (restricted) power curve,

Page 15,

Page 32,

- Regarding the recommend parameters to be used in HiveOS, you can use one of the below,
Core State: 1
Memory State: 1
Core clock, VDD, Memory clock, VDDCI, MVDD
For Power Saving and lower temperature,
~ 1370 MHz, 760 mV, 900 MHz, 780 mV, 1290 mV,
~ 1385 MHz, 770 mV, 905 MHz, 800 mV, 1310 mV (or 1350 mV),
~ 1385 mV, 770 mV, 905 MHz, 850 mV, 1310 mV (or 1350 mV),

For Performance,
~ 1430 MHz, 795 mV, 950 MHz, 850 mV, 1350 mV (or 1360 mV),
~ 1430 MHz, 795 mV, 950 MHz, 900 mV, 1350 mV (or 1360 mV),
~ 1440 MHz, 800 mV, 960 MHz, 900 mV, 1350 mV (or 1365 mV),

Please feel free to message me whenever you like and your feedbacks are much appreciated.

First please properly connect all power connectors of the components to the power supply unit, also note that it is important to provide proper and sufficient power solution to the system and it is highly recommended to provide higher power output around 250 watt more than the minimum power required for the system as well as to provide proper and sufficient ventilation,
After that clear the CMOS of your motherboard and update its bios to the latest version and please do not put PCI-e Configuration on Auto and set each slot to pcie 3.0 or 3.1 if supported, if not then set to pcie 2.0 or 2.1, and check, then,

....

8- Reboot the system,
9- Test and record the results.

If you encounter any problems please feel free to message me and do update me whenever it is possible,

You may have a good day,

Best Regards.
Hello!
I tried above guide with my new Gigabyte Aorus 5700xt, but unfortunately it fails with the following messages:

amdgpu: failed to write reg 28b4 wait reg 28c6
amdgpu: Msg issuing pre-check failed and SMU may be not in the right state

After a search in this thread, I turned off Autofan in hive but this didn't help.

Any ideas what I could change?

Regards,
Talan

I haven't updated the BIOS on the motherboard, but can verify sufficient power ventilation 1300 watt powering 2xrisers and 2x5700xt. Temperatures are 44 for the core and 74 for memory.

I was not getting any invalid shares before the bios flash but only 52 mh/s, @ 1400core, 775mv, 910mem, 775mv 1300mv,.

1370 MHz, 760 mV, 900 MHz, 780 mV, 1290 mV was tested first and continued to give me invalid shares, 55.25 mh/s speeds, approx. 20% rejected shares in 30 mins.

1385 mV, 770 mV, 910 MHz, 850 mV, 1350 mV was tested next, 2 invalids in 60 minutes @ 55.8mh/s.

Any suggestion on how to remove this last little bit of invalids?

Yes, increase VDD a little bit by 5 or 10 mV for the setting below, from 770 to 775 or 780 mV,

1385 mV, 770 mV, 910 MHz, 850 mV, 1350 mV

Hello,

I believe your card has dual vbios and a swithch, please could you check if it is on the silent vbios or OC one?

And have you modified your card vbios yet? If yes then with which vbios was used?

I am trying to mod the bios for my MSI RX 5700 XT Mech (have both Samsung and Micron versions) using the instructions from page 32.

I have succeeded in using the Apple straps, they gave a great boost to the hashrate, but when I added MPT to the bios the GPU failed to start mining. So I am guessing the instructions are not applicable to this specific card. Could someone point me in the right direction, what should be changed in the PowerPlay tables to make the card load?

Please could you clarify more regarding the gpu failed to start mining, do you mean the card could not boot or it is booting however there is a problem with it.

So this is all inside a rig running on HiveOS. I flashed the vbios of 1 card with micron memory and it loaded. But as soon as I started the miner it went offline. So its online until I give it some work to do :) Testing using core 1300, memory 800, VDD 800 VDDCI 850 MVDD 1350

Very well, please feel free to request whenever you like.

I'm sorry for late response.
I have RX 5700 XT Mech OC on all rigs now. GPUs in one rig are based on Micron memory, all the others - Samsung. I set them (all rigs) not to exceed 57MH/s as at the higher hash revenue ratio suffers and GPU temp goes above 82C. Naming convention from Looney Tunes:

Rig "TAZ" @830W ATW:
6x Micron GPUs - 56.9MH/s @110W
Core clock: 1380
VDD: 769
Memory clock: 908
MVDD: 1264
MVDDCI: 762

Rig "COYOTE" @770W ATW:
6x Samsung GPUs - 57.2MH/s @100W
Core clock: 1398
VDD: 779
Memory clock: 912
MVDD: 1292
MVDDCI: 822

Rig "Cucumber" @735W ATW:
6x Samsung GPUs - 56.7MH/s @95W
Core clock: 1385
VDD: 766
Memory clock: 906
MVDD: 1286
MVDDCI: 772

All other - "Road_Runners" @760W ATW (same spec):
6x Samsung GPUs - 56.8MH/s @98W
Core clock: 1388
VDD: 773
Memory clock: 909
MVDD: 1314
MVDDCI: 790

Sensors averages:
GPU Edge: 47-51C
GPU Asic: 52-58C
GPU Mem: 71-84C (Cucumber/TAZ)

Credits to excellent work undertaken by @Mini_me, @AlleyCat and many talented others.

[Updated COYOTE]
Could you share your PowerPlay MPT settings for these cards?

Could you share your PowerPlay MPT settings for these cards?
Of course,
MPT settings listed here (table for the referenced rigs).

Cucumber -> 3.
TAZ1 -> 4.
Runner(1-9) -> 5
TAZ2 -> 6

As a follow up I am testing (on ACME) restricted SoC directly in MPT with latest setting from the excellent Page 2 by Mini_me.

ACME below:

I assume there is some guide, could someone pls point me to gudie to flash giga aorus 5700xt rev 2.0? I bricked my card today on OC bios (thankfully there is silent left working) doing standard flash procedure (1 backed up stock bios 2 moded 3 flashed moded bios) after that i went googe and found that giga cards are problematic... Many thanks

Please reflash your original backup oc vbios then put the switch on the silent vbios after that backup the silent one and modify it to your liking then reflash it.

that means that I can do taht procedure on other (aourus) cards? I mean, I would not touch OC bios, just swich to silend and than backup it, mod and flash?
