Hi,
I am failing to update Gigabyte 5700 XT. The same procedure updates the BIOS on MSI cards with no problem. I follow the instructions on Igors Lab.

The sign of having trouble with the card bios flash shows in GPU-Z. After flash using amdvbflash the values of GPU and memory frequencies is empty. With stock bios there are Mhz frequencies.

Is there any known problems with flashing Gigabyte cards?
Any suggestions on what other forums I may ask for assistance?
Is it possible that the OEM bios is signed, and any modified bios will be rejected?
If the bios is signed, any tools to resign, or would I need to buy a card from a different vendor?

Thanks,

Alley Cat

I had a stable rig of 5700 XTs running the Bios mod from page 15 (exept I dident set the curve). Now I'm getting "gpu reported dead" left and right when ever i go for the higher hashrate settings @ 57,5Mh (which I ran flawlessly for months).

Any idea why my rig would be unstable all of a sudden?

Hi All,

I have this Gigabyte card(https://www.gigabyte.com/Graphics-Card/GV-R57XTGAMING-8GD-rev-20)
I have tried to mod the memory however when i flash the rom on to the card it dies. Any mod to the bios actually bricks it.

I have attached the bios file if anyone can help, would be greatly appreciated.

Current overclock in windows gives me 1625650948881.png

Edit01:

Just incase someone else is having issue, i have now successfully flashed multiple bioses. The issue was resolved by the amdvbflash.exe Version 2.93+.

I found a bios which now gives me 1625785188583.png

I've been digging around but I can't seem to find any references to clocks and voltages for the TRM Mode B for 5700s. Am I missing them or doesn't anyone use them?

Hi
You can have a quick read here about MODEs and overclocks as well as effects.

Hello everyone, i’ve managed to seriously brick my gigabyte gaming oc 5700xt 8 gb. It was my only amd card (all my others are nvidia) and my mistake was not checking thouroughly what revision i had before attempting to reflash with altered memory timings. It was of course the locked v2. So now after a “succesfull” flash and reboot my card is dead. The fans spin, but it doesnt show up in device manager. I do have several pcs and motherboards, i tried it in all of them, still dead. I dont have any mobo/cpu with integrated graphics, so i put the 5700xt in the second slot of several mobos and posted with the nvidia cards i own. It does not show up in device manager nor in amdvbflash (efi/dos) version (no adapter found).

is there a point in trying the official gigabyte reflash tool from the beginning of this thread or should i find someone who knows what hes doing and short pins 1-5/8 ?

ps: as my nickname suggests, i am indeed a videocard noob, please be gentle. Thank you. :)

Hai there, anybody can help me with Gigabyte AORUS RX5700 XT Rev.02 ? I try with existing original bios to mod it, but it seems failed. AT the moment still using stock bios and looking for help to mod this card. Appreciate if anyone can share their bios or method. I attached together the Original Bios from this card.

Forgot to mention, it's SAMSUNG memory.

Sorry to bother you again, i’ve tried everything except the pin short, ia there no other way for me to recover this card ? Thank you.

Thank you Mini_Me and guys for your work. I run 3 gigabyte 5700xt gaming oc rev.2 stable, acc. tutorial on page 2, 55.6 MHs with trm. Temp.junction depends of ambient temp.-max.90C-ambient 32C, 80C-ambient 25C, without any problems. Do you, maybe have similar tutorial for 6800xt¿

[Updated]
For unlocked vbios then please check the kindly attached link below,

Below is only to reflash the original Gigabyte vbios,
Please, use the official Gigabyte vbios with its own flashtool in the kindly attached link below to reflash and fix any bricked Gigabyte RX 5700/5700 XT card:

Gaming:

Aorus:
Unzip the tool and follow "Readme" instructions,

This vbios is modifiable as well by changing .BIN of the R57XTGAMING-OC-8GD.BIN or GV-R57XTAORUS-8GD.BIN in the BIOS folder after extraction to .rom,

Please note:
You can only update the VBIOS of the same series. This BIOS flashing requires Visual C++2008.

One can download other vbios for other Gigabyte cards from official Gigabyte site however only the UK, Russian and Taiwan ones, below for Gigabyte UK official site,
How to update the BIOS of your graphics card ?
- By Windows (only for Gigabyte RX 5700 XT):
1. Extract the downloaded GV-R57XTGAMING-OC-8GD-FA0.zip or GV-R57XTAORUS-8GD.zip.
2. Boot to Windows Safe Mode and execute GV-R57XTGAMING-OC-8GD.exe or GV-R57XTAORUS-8GD.exe as an Administrative.
3. Click StratFlash.
4. Wait for the update to complete and reboot.

- By FreeDOS (for all Gigabyte RX 5700/5700 XT):
1. First disable secure boot in bios settings,

2. Download Rufus program from the official link below, and make a FreeDOS bootable USB flash drive,

3. Download the Amdvbflash_DOS v4.68 from the link below, and extract the amdvbflash.exe and put it with the official Gigabyte bios R57XTGAMING-OC-8GD.BIN or GV-R57XTAORUS-8GD.BIN or the backup bios file in the FreeDOS bootable USB flash drive, the USB flash drive must be connected to a USB 2.0 port,

4. Reboot and press f12 until a boot list appear and choose the bootable usb flash drive,

5. Now enter these commands:

amdvbflash.exe -i
Press Enter

It will show you the gpu adapters list occupying the pcie slots for an example if there is only one gpu then its adapter number will be 0.
###########
amdvbflash.exe -unlockrom 0
Press Enter

It will unlock the gpu chip for flashing if it is locked.
###########
amdvbflash.exe -s 0 chooseAname.rom
Press Enter

To make a backup of the gpu bios if needed.
###########
amdvbflash.exe -p 0 vBiosName.rom (or .BIN)
Press Enter

To start flashing the vbios.
###########
Why can't the BIOS of my graphics card be updated to the latest version on the website ?
GIGABYTE graphics cards have different BIOS series under the same model name. Generally speaking, the BIOS versions of Gigabyte graphics cards belong to the same series from F1 to F9, and from F11 to F19 are also belong to the same series, and so on. Therefore, if the BIOS version of your graphics card is F3 and F4/F10 is available on the website, the BIOS of your graphics card will be updated to F4 instead of F10.
Hello Mini, I would very much like to flash my Gigabyte rx 5700 xt, for the purpose of mining Ethereum and to reduce power. I am currently stable at 51 m/h, 107w, 80c but anything beyond that is unstable. I see people getting as much as 61m/h with lower or similar power consumption.

I don't have your level of experience, and I don't want to brick my very expensive card ($900) - too bad I didn't buy it in 2020. I would be extremely grateful if you could help me with a few questions.

- Is there a risk to flashing by Windows? Certainly less complicated.
- Do I start with this file? https://download.gigabyte.com/FileList/BIOS/GV-R57XTGAMING-OC-8GD-FA0.zip

I have my bios backed up via amdvbflash if helpful. Device ID: 1002-731f. Driver Verison: 27.20.21003.8013

Thank you so much!!

@AlleyCat @Mini_Me
You two have done unbelievable work here! I have read countless pages and just about everything else out there (documents and videos) on flashing the Gigabyte RX 5700 XT for improved Mh/s and power (heat) reduction. Funny how much material out there points back to these post as well.

I only bought my card recently and it was way over priced so I am very reluctant to brick it. Can you confirm the link below (not attached) is the bios I want to use BEFORE I mod the bios? My concern is it appears to be the same as the bios on my card. Also, I thought V2 was the locked version and we need unlocked??

Following is what I get when I view the bios link in this post. VER017.001.000.049.000000 GBT_NAVI10_D19901_XT_G6_8GB_V02\config.h

https://download.gigabyte.com/FileList/BIOS/GV-R57XTGAMING-OC-8GD-FA0.zip

Sorry if I am missing something, my experience with gpu bios mods is what I have learned over the past 2 weeks. I would be extremely grateful if anyone could confirm the specific bios I use that is unlocked! After all my research, and these great post, I think I can manage the rest of the process carefully.

Attached is my current bios backed up via amdvbflash if helpful. Thank you kindly.

Hello world,

I post this as the last resort for my card (GV-R75XTGAMING OC-8GD rev2.0 ). I've bricked my card and as of now, it only able to boot(post) with the bios shorting method. I am able to flash with AtiFlashTool v2.93+ in windows safe mode but it won't boot(POST) after restart the windows.

I've tried my original (backed up with Hiveos Download VBIOS) ROM. Attached below as Rig2-5700xt.rom
I've tried M-Samsung-F40-Gigabyte-Gaming-RX57XT-v68
both come up with the same result, able to flash but fail to boot(POST)

I've tried FreeDOS method with my original also but meet with ERROR 0FL01

Can some of you give me suggestion for another try?

Thanks in advance!

Use amdvbflash.exe Version 2.93+ to flash your bios.

Hello everyone,
i tried mailing the master of disaster, @Mini_Me already, i don't know if he is still active on this thread, that's why im doing this post.
I started mining on my 5700XT-Rig in February, i flashed 3 Gigabyte OC 8 Gaming cards back then, i just remember vaguely, that i did have problems with one. In the end, it all went well with the 2.93+ amdvbflash-tool over cmd.
However, with my 4th 5700xt, it doesn't. I tried flashing with 2.93+ as usual because of the single-memory type but the card bricked and bios or windows wouldn't post unless i shorted the bios chip with "a pair of tweezers". ;)
Now i'm back to windows with the Gigabyte-Windows-flash-tool (it does post without shorting) but the card is still not recognized in windows (no adapter found) unless i continue shorting the bios-chip during start-up. How can i fix it? And how do i get a modded bios on there?
The bios i saved first (somehow not signed, i don't know about that) was with the device-number 731F. Would an unlocked, signed version of a bios for this card help?
Thanks in advance,
Erik

NEWS: (edit)
By looking closely at my cards, i discovered, that there are different builds of the same model. Rev1, Rev2 yeah, different bios and so on. What i mean by that is not a new PCB-Layout, but things soldered that are not soldered on the other ones.
My theory is the following: 2 out of my 3 first cards have one connector not soldered to a place close to PCIE-Connectors and are therefore Rev 1 versions. I didn't have much of a problem flashing them, modded bios - no problemo. The other card has a connector soldered there, however, the connector is not connected to anything. I did have problems with this card, didn't save a modded version of the original, signed bios of this card to my pc, because it didn't work. (bios is locked). This is a REV2 Card.
These differences are also noticeable on the device-id seen in amdvbflash. 730F is REV1, 731F is REV2.
When i am force-flashing a 730F-Bios on there (cards with no connector), windows won't boot and im stuck on the bios loading-up screen of my h110 btc+. Now i need to find a way to get this card up and running again.

Update: (edit)
I tried flashing the bios of my other gigabyte-cards, the stock versions, the modded versions, it either didn't boot into windows, or the adapter was not found unless i continued to short the bios-chip.
I tried flashing the bios of tech-power-up and the bios of Mini_Me to the card, again, it didn't work. I even switched PCIE-Slots, nothing changed. This card cost me 4 days, 6 hours a day. I looked up everything, tried everything, flashed all i could.
I will ask Alternate on monday if they can provide me a working bios or if they can give me Gigabyte's support-number because Gigabyte.de/support is currently down.
I will update you guys and, if working, provide the working bios.

If its a rev 2.0 Gigabyte RX5700XT Gaming you can download the stock bios in by post above (https://www.igorslab.de/community/threads/gigabyte-5700-xt-bios-mod-fails.3304/post-140143) and flash it that should get the card back to working state. Do note that this bios is for Micron Memory only. If yours had Samsung or dual Samsung and Micron it will not work.
