Hi,
I am failing to update Gigabyte 5700 XT. The same procedure updates the BIOS on MSI cards with no problem. I follow the instructions on Igors Lab.

The sign of having trouble with the card bios flash shows in GPU-Z. After flash using amdvbflash the values of GPU and memory frequencies is empty. With stock bios there are Mhz frequencies.

Is there any known problems with flashing Gigabyte cards?
Any suggestions on what other forums I may ask for assistance?
Is it possible that the OEM bios is signed, and any modified bios will be rejected?
If the bios is signed, any tools to resign, or would I need to buy a card from a different vendor?

Thanks,

Alley Cat

Indeed, to maintain the stability of the system when undervolting as the MVDD and VDDCI are automatically scalable by the system however I believe controlling one factor (VDDCI) and fixing the other (MVDD) is the right way as controlling both factors will require a lot of time and effort and may required a change in the other factors (voltages) as well.
Thanks very much @Mini_Me for your help. I'm going to try with 1350 MVDD and adjusting little by little MVDD or VDDCI to the cards that are giving me GPU Dead errors.

Nice analogy. I thought that these limits should be observed and respected to maintain the board safe in the long run.
Do you think then that there is no lower limits in software, just limited to long term stability by the settings found per card? Is it a safe approach?
There is a systematic way to safely calculate that,

Please check the guide in the kindly attached link below, in this guide 90% of the information are official and verified,

Where can i get the latest version? Because on https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/ i found a version but i think is older.
I believe it is either by using MSI Live Update program or by requesting it from MSI.

No worries, I already get one in the kindly attached link below,

Yes, i know about the ratios, but running memories with a minimal overclock put the voltages in the "official" range.
What i have seen is many users are running overclocked with lower voltages (in software perhaps) stably. My question was in that sense, if it is safe in the long run.

Certainly and anyone can as long as the correct memory clock is chosen that fits their card, one needs to look for the temperature and how many system crash occurs on heavy load.

Hi i have created MPT file for my Gygabite RX5700XT Gaming OC 8Gb (Micron memory) REV.1
Can i used for Gygabite RX5700XT Gaming OC 8Gb (Samsung memory) REV.2

On first card with micron works great but i dont know if I can use it same MPT for second card with samsung mem.

Hi and welcome,

Yes you can, it is only MPT, no worries.

Gigabyte are known to sign some of their bios, However some people are able to flash gigabyte gaming oc version.

I have the same issue with GIgabyte Aorus cards. Even tried modifying bios using hex editor as when i compared bios modded with Igors tools to stock bios i could see something other parts of bios file not related to memory timings had also been updated, still no luck

For me it doesnt even allow my system to boot. since you can boot maybe you are getting further and there is something wrogn with some of the settings you applied? Please can you post copy of you bios here and i will try it on my cards and see if it will let me boot

Thanks to Mini_Me!!!!! :) Finally flashed my 6x Gigabyte Gaming OC rev2.0 and 4x Gigabyte Aorus rev2.0... :) The room is air-conditioned, so temps are very good... on 900 MemClock, some cards are giving invalid shares... 890 is working for all withour errors.

Hi, since I couldn't find it anywhere, I decided to patch amdvbflash 4.71 for Linux.
I only tested it on Gigabyte 5700XT, but should work on any gpu supported by amdvbflash 4.71.
my asm knowledge is very low, so this version only works for unsigned BIOS. if you want to flash signed bios,
use the original version here: https://github.com/stylesuxx/amdvbflash

Also would like to ask if anyone tested Gigabyte 5700XT on ubuntu, tried it with more than 50 combos of kernels + drivers,
but power consumption reported by sensors is half of what is real.

Great work. So i just tried this on one of my Aorus cards and it doesnt look like it works.

When patching using the version of amdvb mentioned above from the github link i get the following error.

BIOS authentication signature mismatched
ERROR: 0FL01

Hey, would you be able to send me a copy of the version of amdvbflash you used to flash Aorus cards?
Did you flash using windows or linux?
When trying to flash im getting a BIOS authentication signature mismatch error.

1 thing i noticed is if i flash from windows, the system refuses to boot and i have to revert back to original flash.
However if i flash using linux the bios just gets rolled back and it does allow me to boot.

Quick update, Aorus have very kindly :LOL: provided a signed bios flashing utility for the Aorus version cards on their site

which can be downloaded using this link

Initial tests seem prosiming. However just a small note, this tool comes with 2 bios versions, OC and Silent, however in the F2 format. Simply modify your original bios and put into the rigth folder with the correct ( .F2 ) extension and then run the flash utility.

Im having some invalid in the rig. I was testing some configs, reinstalling vbios.... and continues with the problem. Any suggestion?
